I've modded two x-boxes, a 1.1 with a 2.3b and a 1.6 with a 2.6. I'm trying to mod a 1.6b now with an x3. The problem I'm having is that no matter what I do I can't get the chip to turn on. What I mean is now that I have everything soldered and connected, when I put it all back together and turn it on the xbox just boots up normally and the x3 front panel switch doesn't light up. I know the chip has power because the led's on the chip itself light up. It just consistently boots up like a normal xbox. I checked my solder points and they all look fine. I was think it might be a d0 issue but on my previous xboxes when those weren't connected correctly it fragged. I've never seen a modchip install where the modchip isn't working but the xbox acts like its not there at all. Any thoughts...is it possible that I got a bad front panel switch.

BTW - I used the lpc rebuild pcb, pin header install, and I did install the eject/power pcb (maybe this part is bad?).

So I gave up on the 1.6b. Decided to remove the chip entirely and install it in my 1.4. Works great. Don't know what the problem was but oh well. I suppose it could be that the flashbios wasn't the right version for the 1.6b but its odd that the front panel wasn't working and the xbox worked like normal. It was my understanding that the flashbios incompatibility had a different effect.

Sounds like the problem was with the rebuild PCB. I personally prefer the wires as I can see exactly what's soldered.

i had same problem with my friends 16b i had to flash the modchip in my 16 xbox then put into the 16b aftertested and working in mine

now the 16b works fine :)

think the chip has to be programmed 1st b4 u install into the 16b xbox's

am investing in a programmer for future mod's save ripping my box apart when i have a 16b to mod

i may be wrong am sure i'll be corrected if so but that worked for me

Backup games via FTP Tutorial link?

Hey, I read somewhere that you can create a backup of a game by connecting your 360 and computer with a cable and using FTP.

Can anyone link me to a good tut for this?
I searched for a while and couldn't find anything!

Thanks!

You will need a jtaged 360 for it, don't know if it is even possibly yet.

Ahhh okay! What is the best current way to backup a 360 game?
I'm super new to this, so again if you have a link to something that might be better than me asking all my noob questions :)
Thanks again

Re: Backup games via FTP Tutorial link?

To have a 360 drive flashed with the 0800 firmware and copy it using XBox backup creator.

So if I get a used 360 off Amazon or something for 40 bucks and just use the drive, that would work after installing the 0800 fw?

Or if I just buy a drive, what is the best/easiest to use and install fw on?

If you flash the drive with 0800 it can not be used to play games, if you just buy a rrod xbox off of ebay then you can just use that.

I would recommend a samsung or lite-on drive to use for ripping, BenQ will also work but they make my pc act weird so I don't like them. I use jungle flasher to flash the 0800 firmware.

Aright that's what I figured.. So since used 360s and new drives are about the same price, is it probably more worth my money to just get the drive?

I guess my thought had been that if my current 360 went to hell I could restore the original fw on the 0800 drive if I got the whole 360.

Does that make sense?

if your current 360 takes a dive then yes you could flash that drive with 0800 and buy a new xbox
