First of all, I am a noob at this. Two weeks ago I didnt know what a mod chip was, and two nights ago I sucessfully modded my v1.4 xbox with an Xecuter 3SE chip.

So the hardware modding went great. After i hooked the xbox up to the TV, FlashBIOS 3.0.3 loaded and everthing looked fine... Then I tried to flash the BIOS.

I got onto the FTP site and found the BIOS I wanted (X3 2913) and burned it to a CD-RW (I changed the name to BIOS.BIN and added a 100MB dummy file to the burn). I followed the instructions found at a reputable site.

I wasnt sure how the switches on the bank were supposed to be set, so I left them as they were. I selected the flashing process for a disk and it successfully flashed. After restart, the result was a FRAG. I have a Samsung drive, so I burned the same file onto a Maxell CD-R. Before restarting with the backup BIOS, I changed the switch banks to "on,on,off,off,off". The backup BIOS is FlashBIOS v3.0.1.

FlashBIOS 3.0.1 loaded and the drive read the disk and the flashing process started, and finished-with the xbox shutting down after. Things were looking up but something wasnt working correctly with the color of the loading screen which was a strange gray. I found that the HDTV composite plug I was using should have been replaced by the original video plug (Red White Yellow) that came with xbox.

After doing all that, I started the xbox again and things seemed promising... The color was correct on the video intro (xbox green), but the next screen that shows the Xbox logo with the "Xecuter Rox This Box" logo, was bright magenta. Maybe that's supposed to be the color for the BIOS startup...

After the Magenta screen with the logos, the frustrating thing happens. The screen display is broken up and staggered horizontally. It also moves vertically where the bottom wraps around and starts down from the top again. It's like a VHS tracking problem. I can make out portions of the the X3 Bios menu and can even move the cursor and select, but there's something definitely wrong.

I've burned multiple more disks, thinking that it could have been an error with the burn, but it's the same outcome every time. I'm convinced that the BIOS is being flashed correctly, but that there's some video compatability issues. I'm a noob tho, so i'll take my lashings... Can anyone suggest a fix to this problem?

Thanks!

!

is it possible that your box was caonnected to HDTV before installing the chip ?
try booting with chip disabled and then change the video settings on the ms dashboard back to normal . boot the chip on again .
good luck

I found the problem...

yeah, so i continued to read threads after posting that request for help... it's been three LONG nights that i've been messing around with this. i've taken the xbox apart three times to check soldering and perform "touch-ups," only to make myself feel better until I plugged it back in.

so i tried something different... i used the "freeze" feature on the TV remote to see where i was in the menu. i found the video setting and changed it to NTSC J. It was defaulted and enabled to NTSC U.

In any case, IT WORKS! XECUTER 3SE rox my box.

It was user sb122606 that wrote something about holding the left button while pressing y or x to make it change video settings. that didn't work for me, but the idea was there. thanks for hosting this forum! vbmenu_register("postmenu_91830", true);
