LITEON 74850 Having trouble extracting key

OK, I have a Lite-On 74850c and dash version 2.0.12625.0 and CK3 probe

I already have an iXtreme firmware on my drive (I believe it is the very first version of LT+ but it's been a while). I unfortunately do not have my drive key because of a hard drive failure.

I have Windows 8 64 bit but I was able to disable driver signatures and JF sees my drive. Problem is when I click on DVDKey32 with the new JF I don't get the pop-up that tells me to power on and off, so I have my drive tray halfway out, and I have tried every combination of powering on and off with probing I can think of.

I also tried the Phatkey thing where you probe the mx01 point, and I get it to say that it was successful, but then it says to power on and off and after I do so it gets a 52 and says extraction failed.

I've been trying for a couple hours and I have searched for the last 30 minutes on the different boards here.

I'm sure I'm doing something stupid that people will laugh at me for, but I'd rather be laughed at with a 2.0 drive =)

OK I read some more, seems like if I don't have the key and I have flashed an LT firmware that I can't retrieve my key without a switch on the 3.3v line.

I'm about to ask the dumbest question ever asked on this forum.

I'm assuming all the switch does is disconnect the line and reconnect the 3.3v line. If I cut the 3.3v line, strip back both ends a little, hold them together, separate them, then touch them back together this should simulate the effect of the switch right? I would like to get this done tonight and Radioshack is far from my house.

I read it, it says to click on the PhatKey button, then switch off the 3.3v line (I'm asking if disconnecting the line is the same) put the probe on the MPX01 and then flip the 3.3v power back on (Reconnecting the wire).

Then after you get to the extraction complete notification disconnect the 3.3v line again for 5 seconds and reconnect it.

The hacks I have seen on here only seem to show the 3.3v line cut and soldered to a switch. I know that will make things much easier but I'm trying to get it done without a radioshack switch tonight.

It worked, cut 3.3v line and ground line, had to use some ninja dexterity to unattach the 3.3v connection, smoosh the ground line onto the point on the PCB and then reconnect the 3.3v, but I got my key.
