hi all, i hope someone could help me! here is my situation with my 1.6 xbox / X3:

I had an issue with the power button .. so I wanted to have a look at my solders ... everything looked good ... I booted and un-intentionnaly unlocked the HD (on X3 bios) ... then I rebooted and an "Error 05" was on the Screen ..it's about locking/unlocking the HD ... my problem is i can't lock it on X3 bios because of the power button issue (i turn on the box with the eject button)

So, now i can't do anything ... Any thoughts, solutions?

Tx you a lot

Why cant you unlock it with no power button? I turned it on with eject... held the white botton, and now I',m in my X3 config menu. Don't see why it wont let you unlock it....

Not to repeat, but...

You can lock / unlock in the config live menus.
Turn on the power however you normally do and hold the white button until the menu comes up.

Then:
Disk Tools -> Current Hard Drive Setup
And then highlight Hard Drive Lock: Disable and hit the (A) button.
Should be locked for you then!

Tx you for answering quickly...
unfortunately, things are not working this way...
When i turn on the xbox with the eject button, even pushing the white button of the controller ... nothing happens ..Screen "Error 5", furthermore, the leds on the external switch don't flash (no colors).

Seems to me like your modchip is not plugged in... Even if you don't have any dashes on, you should be able to boot into the Xbox live menu.... That, and no colors on your external switch....

Maybe when you were checking the solders, you knocked something loose? Does your X3 have 2 Blue LEDS on it when it's powered on? I'd re-check the solders... if everything is working right, if you can turn on your xbox... you should be able to get to the config menu.

Tx u for answering me again,

Well, i don't think it's a good news but the chip looks well plugged and the blue leds on the chip work Okay, while the led on the swith don't work at all ... holding the white button during the boot doesn't take me to the X3 bioslive..
? :( ?

I guess i can sum up my situation quickly:

I have 2 issues:

-I unlocked the HD (how dumb was I) => error 5
-The power button doesn't work with the chip plugged

those 2 issues are Inter-connected, if i cannot access the X3 bios, i cannot lock the HD from the Box ; because ithe HD is locked, i can't do much with the Box

Note: if i turn on the Box with the chip and Without the HD .. it turns on to the big green X .. and nothing else ... It seems the box quickly gets a look at the HD before letting the chip lead the boot up.

Ok guys, i've got a multimeter and checked as many connection as possible ... There is 1 "weird" observation on the 3 wires that are plugged on the chip and on d0/HD led/LAN led:

the green (lan led) and the gray (d0) wires look "connected", when i "check" with the the multimeter on one side of those 2 wires, there is a "contact/courant" with the grey and the green other end of the wires ???
(nothing to say about the red wire)
I have quite a problem with the power button btw..

.. What do you think ?...
