Since I did'nt have a Hdd case for my RGH modded Jasper, I decided to install a 320Gb Hdd internally.

SATA cable are soldered on and power and GND comes from a spliced DVD power cable.

Most time consuming are actually fitting the hard drive. You have to cut a hole in the metal heat insulating cover, and also do a bit of grinding in the plastic casing itself to get the damn thing to fit....

But once its done it has a more sleakier look to it without that ugly hump:cool2:

This is an old mod and theres lots of tutorials around for those who are interested.

Wow very nice I was think about doing this once I get around to RGH'ing my console. Do you know if there is enough power for a 3.5 inch drive?

There isn't room for a 3.5" hdd internally. Its really a tight fit, so you would have to install it externally. Not a very clever solution if you ask me:p However there are mods for it.

3.5" hdd requires 12v and you can get that from the power connector.

Why didnt you just take that Heat shield off completly? I ditch those on every case I open.
Yeah your right, could have done that. But it does help fixating the hard drive thou. At first I fixated it with double adhesive tape, but there wasnt enough space to get the case on.

Are you able to transfer anything to the internal HDD from the outside besides just installing from the DVD discs?

If you ever do completely remove the heat shield you might also want to drill some holes for vents on right above the HD to allow air flow. I do it to all mine after the warranty or if I remove the shield. Xbox stays at least 5-7 degrees cooler.Cog
