I just installed a Demon on a 4gb slim. It was scary maing sure the points were all connected. I was able to flash both retail and Demon. Everything works!

My brother and I will primarily use this for gaming online. I have a 750 GB hdd but he has read these can be detected and banned. He also said no homebrew on this unless it is on the HDD.

We Jtagged a jasper a couple years ago. It only has a 120gb hdd. It also has both Freestyle Dash and xexmenu on it. We don't want to use the retail nand until we know what we can and cannot use for a hdd and what we should do about an alternative dash.

I have read that a new profile for live is a good idea. I can do that. What else should I do?

Nobody can answer this. The safest way is to only use an official MS hdd for XBL play and not to put any homebrew content on it.

Personally, I keep all homebrew on an external drive. I use the same profile I use for online play with my RGH, but everything I play on my RGH is legit, so I dont have to worry about being flagged for something dumb (i.e. playing DLC I didnt buy, playing homebrew which gives achievements etc.).

I have the same 4gb slim setup but with 1t HDD. I make sure all RGH homebrew contents and games are installed on the 1T HDD. My daughter goes online all the time on the stock side without taking the 1t HDD out. The hdd is not recognize on the stock side. Also using the same profile so far.

So retail would not see the 750 gb if it is internal? Is this an external drive? I tried to put a 32gb USB on once when ti was just retail and it only recognized 16gb. Is this what you mean? What about your content? it needs to be on HDD1, right?

For now retail would not see your 750 gb but i don't know what MS have in stock in the future. My 1t is internal. yes, RGH homebrew, contents, and games wil be on your 750gb HDD1. Also when using RGH, safe your save games on the 750 gb.

It wouldn't make any sense for MS to punish people just because they played Marketplace Content they didn't buy. This would mean they'd have a policy of punishing people who take their profiles to their friend's place. That would contradict the license that allows any profile signed in on that console to use the content.

Not endorsing the improper use of content, but your theory isn't sound when taking into account Marketplace Content DRM.

Do you not remember when MS banned a large group of folks for illegally obtaining and playing XBLA titles? How do you think they knew who cheated the system?

Nothing in my post said anything about using content against the DRM (license).

The usage and subsequent banning you're referring to broke the TOS and COC, therefore Microsoft took action after an investigation revealed those individuals were breaking both agreements.

Microsoft's DRM allows anyone to use content as long as it's used on the console it was downloaded to or the profile it was downloaded under is signed into LIVE while it's being used. Both of those scenarios allow someone who didn't purchase it to use it as long as the TOS and COC are followed.

There's a marketing angle in their DRM: allow someone who doesn't own the license to specific content to play it because their friend does, and they're more likely than not to purchase it themselves. Therefore, it makes no sense for Microsoft to punish someone solely on the basis that they used content they didn't buy.
