Right here
the xbox has been doin funny stuff, freezing both in dash (when listing to music, i use THC dashboard) and ingame
yesterday, i was playing san andreas and the gamplay became jittery, the loading screen kept coming up, and i dident hear the best noise coming from the hhd. So i rebooted the xbox, no "xecuter rox my box" Hdd Led stays on then the no7 error code, did this a few more times, swaped hdd's, other hdd good.
But later on that day i tryed again and it booted and hasent screwed up since yesterday, i know the hdd is probedly on it's way out. But it's not like it's an old harddrive, it's only 6 months old, the harddrive in my computer is about 4 years old.
witch leads me to my question, do the harddrives need to be, or does it benifit, defraging once so often? or is this normal harddive life for this application?

Your hard drive should be fine. I've heard people talk about defragging, and what i've heard, its not really that nessisary.

well it's been awhile since the last post, and since then the xbox has been playable, sort of, it's not going now, same problem as last post. I got a logiteh cordless controler and it made san andraes unplayable, road textures wouldent load music skiping really really long load times, it was ok for a while though. I rebooted and turned off the xbox many times and the game seams to not like the controler, i put the corded one back in and it's just back to working ok sometimes but know where near as bad as what the cordless one did to the gameplay.
The place where i bought the harddrive said, yeh bring it back it will get sent back to WD.
So it would be a good idea to delete whats on it and format it to look like a computer HD, yes?
i think i read somwhere you can put the xbox hd in the pc, what file system dose the xbox set up on the hd?

cheers.

when you send the drive back they dont check for data on it, so unless you have private information on the drive i wouldnt worry too much. and as long as the tamper sticker is still in place they dont really care what you put it in. but if you want to be safe just hook it up to your pc as a slave and format it from windows.

hope i could help
