Hi,

I've just installed an X3 CE on to an Xbox 1.1, Flash Bios 3.0.1.

It seemed to work fine (I've hardly used it so I'm not sure), quick press on power to flash Bios, long press on power to disable X3 and power + eject for flash Bios backup.

I was looking at the menu on the Bios and I selected 'unlock HDD'. Now when I boot up I get error 05 your xbox requires a service, from reading this site I blieve this is because the HDD is unlocked.

I can't flash the Bios with the power switch/power + eject/black + back

I don't thik this is a hardware problem because it seemed to work before I unlocked the HDD.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers guys

Thanks Martin for your reply. Excuse my ignorance, I might be missing the obvious here. I was trying to get back into the X3 Bios so that I could lock the HD again but I can't get the Xbox to boot by pressing the power switch or power and eject, I'm just stuck with the MS error 05 screen. Is there another way to lock the HD? Can it be done from the Xbox error screen?

Cheers

It's possible that the d0 wire has either come away from it's soldered point, or is unplugged/damaged in some way.

Do you get a purple X3 logo when booting from power + eject?

Remember, you're still trying to boot to FlashBIOS so a quick press of power (or press the eject button) is the order of the day.

OK Martin thanks for that, it's cleared everthing up. I guess I'll have to go back and check my wiring. Thanks

Fixed it!!!

I checked all the wiring twice using this excellent tutorial:

http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/lpc-diag.ph

well done milingo, ace tutorial.

As I thought in my first message, the wiring was all good, but I still couldn't force a reboot with the power switch or power and eject.

In the end after doing a few more hours research on this site, I unhooked the reset/eject adapter and plugged the reset/eject back in to the mobo. I didn't realise that my xbox would then boot directly through the X3. Power on and sure enough it boots up through the flashbios, I lock the HDD, reconnect the reset/eject adapter and it's all good again.

4 hours reading on the internet, 2 hours diagnostics on my xbox, the smile on my face once I'd fixed it... priceless.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this website.

Cheers
