I have a Sony 30" HDTV Widescreen, and I was curious as to whether or not I would need the HDTV Advanced AV pack also. Im running the XBox through 3rd party component video cables already, and I have all the 480p, 720p and 1080i options checked in the X3 BIOS. Am I getting that picture right now, or do I need to get the adapter to see it? I seriously cant tell. Im also running the Slayers 2.6 dash if that helps.

Im planning on moving to optical audio too, as soon as christmas comes around and I get a home theater set-up going.

Thanks a lot guys!

ok, i got the thing, the offical Microsoft one, and I dont really notice much of a difference. I guess DOA Ultimate looks better, but I cant tell at all on Halo 2. On the MS Dash and the Xecuter BIOS I have all the 480p, 720p and 1080i resolutions checked...but I cant see much of a difference. Am I missing something?

Switch DVD Drives

When flashing the xbox 360 you're only flashing the DVD drives, correct? So is it possible to switch a pre-flashed DVD drive with a non-flash DVD drive and vice versa?

Or is there something more going on when flashing an xbox 360?

Re: Switch DVD Drives

For it to work at all, you have to sign the firmware for the new one with the key from the old one. If not being banned from Live is important to you, you also need to make sure the make and model of the drives match, too.

The motherboard also knows what kind of drive it was desiged for. While it is possible to spoof one type of drive as another, M$ can detect this and you will be banned from live.

There are lots of tutorials around for extracting the key from the drive and flashing a new drive.
