I have 2 version 1.6 (probably 1.6b) xboxes. They both have the m8+ bios flashed to the second bank and the flashbios 3.03 flashed to the first bank on a Xecuter 2.6. They boot up just fine and are able to load anything, but after a certain period of time, maybe a half hour or 15 minutes, they both will shut off. Then if you try to turn either on, they will not boot up (I think they blink yellow/orange). If you wait a while, it will boot up again. When Avalaunch loads, it comes up with a screen saying "fixing invalid date setting". It does this all the time. I don't know what is causing it. This is causing me extreme stress. Please help me out if you know a fix or are having the same problem!!!!

The fan is plugged in and running. If the case is off and the box guts (cd player and HD) are out it still does it. The temp in both evox and avalaunch lists the processor around 60 degrees celsius which should be fine. What could be wrong?

your box wont read the temps correct, so dont believe them, the only one that could be right is the hard drive if, big if, it supports it

check all your connections and make sure its in a well ventilated area as well, ensure no shorts, and connections are snug etc

So nobody else is experiencing this problem? I am a good solderer. I have done close to 30 xbox mods. I just am problems on 1.6s. Same problem on both boxes. One was even using the xapter lpc rebuild. Now they are both just using wires because I took the xapter off. I have completely taken off and remodded on of the xboxes. Could it be a bios issue?

jizza_69,
With EVtool, you can modify the bios to your liking. I played with the M8plus_16.bin the other day and had nothing but problems. Interesting enough, I was able modify the bios by hexediting the unpacked image.

Now back to the problem at hand,
nellering, it sounds like an over-heating issue...

I think it is an overheating issue also, but I don't know how to fix it. I have 2 boxes doing this. One used the xapter adapter, the other used just wires to rebuild the lpc. The modchip works, which leads me to believe I am doing it right. I even took out the hard drive, network, and whatever leads to see if that was causing anything cuz I assumed they weren't needed. I just don't know right now. Occassionally, like the guy that posted, other people have the same problem.....but it is never posted what they did to fix it. Right now I just have 2 xboxes sitting in my room dead basically.

Swage...

Yeah... I have tried the Yosh mem-fix M8 plus bios.... allows me to see all of the 200G HDD..... but the problem is that its still flaky...

I mean I understand these guys (teamxecuter) are working on it.... but i have had 5 V1.6b's sitting, Fully Modded..... waiting .....patiently for the new Bios.... something reliable.... Im not gonna give these boxes to people like that.... I have a reputation

i love these guys.... love their chips, have been way loyal... and i understand that its a mem issue...buffer over/under run..... Memory leak.... whatever, but still, i guess i thought that there would be a solution by now....

And yes, I know the Plus works.... but not consistantly.... i mean crashes and boot freezing, are things i dont think I want to tollerate

Oh.... Have you experienced with the V1.6b's that the DVD drive doesnt know whether its open or closed half the time? I mean it just looks confused....in every Proggie.... PxHddLoader, Evox, dvd2xbox.... everything... the only time that it reads is from a cold boot....

Sorry to vent.... just frustrated ;)

Did you try using more FANS or Another Cooling Device to see if this really is a temperature issue??... You can try a Fan Mod...

jizza,

what specific probs are you having with your 1.6b's with the yoshi beta4?

I have an Xecuter 2.3b in mine with the yoshi beta 4 now and it seems reliable so far, but I haven't done extensive testing. I'm just estatic that my games aren't freezin or buggin out during play anymore (m8_16, m8+_16).

What should I be looking for so I can compare and contrast the issues??

Also does anyone know if teamX is actually working on these Temperature Sensors for the new X2 bios build or is that just a dead issue??

The reason I ask is because one would think that if the reading of MB/CPU temp off the board was doable, SOMEONE would have coded it already!

Do the 1.6/1.6b motherboards even record temps internally? Seems like no one has a definitive answer to this.
