HELP 1.6b and 2.6 Chip

Right first off i have a Crystal 1.6b and pit an Xecuter 2.6 in and upgraded the harddrive to 80gb, right now the problem-
After flashing with m8_16 the machine comes up wht the evox dash as it should but as when you try to play a game either from hd or dvd(original or backup) the xbox freezes i have checked the solderign points no shorts or anything, if i turn off the chip and pop an original in i can play fine for hours but it still freezes with the chip on, oh and i have tryed the chip in another crystal 1.6b and it works fine, i tried another 2.6 in with the same results.
I am now lost as what to look for or do now.
Can anyone help or give any suggestions as where i can go from here.

Same here, 2.6 into a 1.6b freezes

I have the same problem. I installed a 2.6 chip into an 1.6b xbox. I can see the drive and copy files to it and get the slayers dash to boot and run fine, but as soon as I select to run any file the box looks like it is loading but just freezes and sits there forever. Please help.

Did you flash the M8plus_16 bios to the second bank of the X2 chip?

As you have a 1.6b xbox you should have put flashbios 3.03 on bank 1 and M8plus_16 on bank 2

Yeah I have the flash 3.03 on bank 1 and M8plus_16.bin on bank two. Still freezes.

This xbox was made on 11/11/2004 maybe it is newer then the 1.6b maybe the next one... 1.7??? Real games run fine but backups and apps freeze on load.

Yes, i to put the m8_16plus but mine freezes when you try to start top play a game or if you try to use an app its ok in the dash

Had the same problem but put the M8_16 on by mistake.
Xbox 1.6b ONLY works on M8+16 and MUST be on bank 2
Check that you are using the right bios / bank or all games will crash after intro as I found out!

M8_16plus is on bank 2 and i have put the chip into another 1.6b and it works fine as i have 3 crystal 1.6b bought at the same time 22 work with 2.6 with m8_16plus and the 3rd just freezes, i have checked the memory and other chip(forget what its for) against the various site and they all say 1.6b(all 3 exactly the same).

2.6CE alows you to flash to bank 2?

From what i understand it doesn't matter what bank select you have the switch set. the chip will ALWAYS write to bank 1, if that s not the case I'd like to know how to flash m8 onto bank 2 of my 2.6CE

The solution is to make a 1MB flash with bios manager and flash it to the entire chip (both banks), I had the same problem and this fixed it.
