Help! A Few ? X3

for starters I have a new premodded xbox 1.6v... Xecuter3 chip...phillps drive,

I can't get xbox too read my back up games or the slayers2.6 disk, I have read alot of forums, I am pretty sure I have burned them the right way, after they burn they show empty on pc, using ritex DVD-disk, which I read they will not show up, I flashed banks 1&2 once with 3.0.1 bios and that went fine but still shows 3.0.0 when I boot with mod chip on...

?.1 I d/loaded from xbins x3-bios-1959-v16plus, are this the bios I need
to flash with and should I flash with banks 1&2 on 3,4,5 off?

?.2 is this the reason I am having hard time reading my backups because
of the stock 3.0.0 bios

?.3 after I flash on banks 1&2 do I leave the switches on and it will boot
from 1959 bios, and if I turn bank 1&2 switches off will it boot from stock
bios.
Thanks for any replys.. I need xbox to read my disk so I can load
programs on new 160 drive I bought, I got most all the programs I need
craxtion,ftpflash,slayers,qwix,dummyfilemaker...

1. Yes... you NEED the X3 1959 16plus bios.... Yes flash with 1,2 on and 3,4,5 off


2. Yes that is the reason...... FlashBios 3.0.x WILL NOT boot unsigned code


3. yes leave it with 1,2 on..... if you change it it will not boot the right BIOS since you'll have another bank selected.


4. STUDY MORE NEXT TIME..... Read ALL the stickies on the forum at least 3x for the x3.....

X3-bios-v16plus flash went smooth, now xbox will boot my slayer disk, and can see the x3 options for adding new hard drive, now I just have to decide if I want to use slayer2.6 or X3 program for new HD, seems like slayer might be easyer, seen if you use X3 you must put backup of bios/eeprom from stock drive onto new drive, and do not need to with slayers, thanks again

i recomend you dont use slayers but you probably already did. ESPECIALLY for first timers it is good to do it on your own MANUALLY...It's just going to make you more confused later on and when your apps/dash are outa date you'll be pissed because, 1. there probably won't be an updates slayers, and 2. you wont know how to update it.

Ok thanks for advise, I have not loaded anything yet going to wait till this weekend. If I am going to use X3 i gotta get my backup of bios/eeprom off my stock drive,,, Ill try again to get flashftp working can't seem to get connected,thru linksys router,cat5 cable,, but will do some more research and try again..not sure if I need something else loaded on xbox to ftp,,
I am a little concerned about having a heat problem with new hd
I got seagate barracuda 160 read they run cooler and quite, I seen you can buy hard drive fan kit that go on side of xbox,at modchipman.com but if I can turn up stock xbox fan speed with X3 do I really need fan kit?
anyone having heat problems? Thanks Guys

well I couldn"t getxbox to ftp, so I had to just go with slayers 2.6,,
I didn"t load anything on my original xbox drive, just left it stock and pull it out threw in my new seagate 160, ran slayers 2.6... every thing is working great able to load games on hard drive and plays fine, the only thing that I don"t like is it sets up like 6 partitions, show total hd at 149.05

z:.73GB
f:141.60GB
maybe thats just the way it has to set up, not sure but everything works fine, also I havent figured out how to exit out of game or reset, I always have to turn off the power button then turn back on to get back to dashboard, and I sure I will not be able to play xbox live now but thats ok

i cant reccomend against slayers enough for X3 users. unless all you are trying to do is play burned games/copy to hdd, slayers will just confuse you if you are a newbie.

yes i am a noobie, from what I read in order to use X3 you have to bachup your drives from original HD by ftp and ftp them back to new drive
couldn"t get xbox to ftp.....loading and playing games off HD was what
I was wanting to do.

I cant understand why your all against slayers - did he screw your mom ?

Its great for the noob. It does the job. It installs the apps.

Then when you’re a little more familiar with how the Xbox works - customise it via ftp.

Some ppl buy the X3 because its a bigger number than X2 - they dont always know what it can do till its in and they mess arround with it.

If you screw up - just re-format (with slayers) and start again.

I'm really at a loss as to why ppl are so hostile to the app that make it easy for the noob.

Anyone asking how to do ftp is a noob.
Anyone who cant get ftp to work is a noob.
Networking can be hard - and is not everyones cup of tea.

I'm not a noob and Administer a large network so I know about ftp very well - but when I do an install I always use slayers - because I cant be arsed to do it anyother way - plus the xtra apps it installs can be deleted from within the package - no PC required.

No one knows everything, and one step at a time.

I know the X3 can format, and do wonderful things, but slayers still has a place.

So lets stop bitching about an install disc that makes life easy.

This is just my opinion, please lets not have a flaming session over a disc

Dead Space 2 Need AP25 Patch?

Does anyone know if Dead Space 2 needs the AP25 Patch.... (or has anyone tried to play the game and received a black screen or does it play fine?) Thanks! If I don't hear back from anyone soon then I will try it out and let everyone know.

No but I would run it though abgx 1.0.5 just to check the stealth of the file.
