Hi

I have a benq VAD6038. I tried to update to LT+ using jungleflasher but half way, JF/PC froze and now dvd drive is bricked and i'm getting E65 error.

- DVD drive won't open at all
- Used windows 7
- Used xbox power to power xbox while flashing.

Help? how do I unbrick my benq drive?

Thanks for you'r help in advance. :)

gonna need more info mate.
how did you flash it exactly?
what sata are you using?
did you dump the drive before the crash?
did it crash when writing the firmware or did you erase the drive?
all this will help anyone to help you better.
Used jungle flasher latest beta. sata??? I read the drive and it asked me to save something! Original firmware??? Yes it crashed during writing bank 1. Did not erase drive, I read it then loaded firmware lt+ then write = crash

look at the photo. push that greyish plastic pin as far left as it will go and the drawer will pop open a bit, pull it half way out connect to pc, hit intro device tab, should work. can also try hitting benq unlock if the intro button doesn't work. once you get vendor mode you will need load that mystery file you were asked to save (benq-ofw bin, thats your firmware dump) then just follow the jungle flasher tutorials which you should have been from the start. jungle flasher manual is in the downloads here. it has all of this and more in it and might just have saved you posting.
if you keep getting crashes after all that i'd say your sata chipset drivers have not been removed properly. how to do that is also in the manual mate
oh and dont worry the photo is a liteon drive, benq and liteon are the same inside except the pcb

Suggestion that been tested in the same situation.

Replace your sata cable first
Connect to your computer your benq drive with the tray closed and power on
Open Jungleflasher and click intro/device id under the mtk flash 32 tab and that will get you in vendor mode again.

Yep! No drive detected. It sees the sata card but no drives. Installed port32 for win 7 and tried with tray open & closed. When I connect to tv I get E65 error... Any ideas? Thnx in advance for all your help guys.

And yes, I have deleted the sata cards drivers so that pc/jf doesen't freeze.

are you sure you have the correct i/o port selected for your drive on the mtk tab of jungle flasher?
try leaving the power to the drive off, hit intro and then power it on. leave the drive closed now it usually makes no difference but was worth a try. whatever you do if you get into vendor mode DO NOT try and read the drive again incase you save over you benq-ofw bin as i suspect you only saved one(i save at least 3 incase any are corrupted) in fact before doing anymore i would make a few copies of the one you have because if you loose that you may as well bin the whole machine as it will be a dvd player and nothing else then.

cool. glad to hear you got there in the end mate. did you manage to work out the problem or did it just go into vendor mode from power off then intro then power on? for future reference that should work every time if power on then intro fails or benq unlock does not work. benq are easiest i think and i love seeing one whenever i open one up to flash as i know i'll be done in 5 minutes :D

Hi, I think it had something to do with my normal DVD drive?!! I took the data cable from my normal pc DVD drive to use it for flashing, and when I put it back like normal I did ur method and it worked??? So pc DVD drive off - no vendor and when I put it back in the vendor mode worked first time. & reason my benq bricked (I like to call it bricked) was because jf froze cos I didn't remove the via driver lol
