Hitachi 47 with iXtreme 1.51. Will play original game fine, but when i put in the backup disc (in this case Splinter Cell: Conviction) it chooses Play DVD and sits at a Xbox logo screen

Is the game too new for the version of xtreme im using?

Thats my guess .... because I have a lite-on drive that required update to LT firmware to play SplinterCell Conviction. I think your going to be waiting along time for a Hitachi update if any.... still waiting for Sammy update.

Hitachi 1.51 firmware doesn't check what wave the game is, it'll play it regardless. Do any of your other backups work on this drive? If not, it may need to be reflashed.

Assuming they do then its probably a bad backup, check it with ABGX for any errors and try burning it again.

Or your laser is geting weaker. From what i understand from experience as well. The drives laser can read xbox 360 media fine. But Duel Layer media a little harder. so its struggles. So if you look into doing the pot tweak it shuld fix the problem. Specialy with hitachis backups mess up
