help drastically needed

First can i say thanks in advance !!!

The problem is this:

I have a V1.1 xbox, and an xecuter 3 modchip. I have installed the pinheader and everything is all ok, ( Not the first modchip i have done!!)

But there seems to be a prob with the chip, i can get up flashbios, it wont let me flash the chip in any switch position. it keeps telling me that the chip is write protected enen when it is switched off !!

The modchip light is always on blue, i cant boot to flash bios by pressing power on and eject. im at my wits end and thinking of throwing my beloved xbox out of the loft room window, unless someone can help me soon!!

sorry that should say cant get flashbios up.

Unplug the external switch bank at the Mod Chip itself
This should cause the mod chip to default to the 1st 1MB Bank
And if it works will tell you if the wiring or external switch is shorted ot not

thanks for your swift response, i have tried that it boots up straight to the microsoft dash, no sign of the chip working !!! arrrghhh it driving me wild. gonna ring my mate and see if i can "borrow" his chip and see if that works or not !!!!

just got my mates chip and that is working fine, it seems like i have a completely blank chip, is there anyway to flash it or is it a return to sender job ???

Is your Buddy's chip an X3 also or is it a 2.6ce

Since you buddy has an chip that works in your box we should be able to do the hot swap trick on your chip and flash a bios to it

Have you tried your chip in his XBox only try this if he has a x3 or 2.6CE

his is the X3 CE, mines a X3 CE, his works fine, tried the hot swap trick already i booted up with his loaded up the config by pressing the white button. swapped over the chips and selected the flash bios option tried flashing both the back up rom and the main bios and no matter what switch position i have it on it just tells me that the chip is write protected. the led light on the chip is showing red, and it still says flash protected, green same thing. both blue led lights are fine, solder points are fine switch bank seems to be working fine with my friends chip, just not mine !!!

it just does not want to play ball, im really confused now as i accidently flashed a 2.6 chip i put in my little bros xbox and hot swap trick worked a treat. but like i say i just keeps telling me it is flash protected no matter what switch position i have it on !!

When you put your X3 in his box try not attaching the external switches this will cause the X3 to deault to the first bank

You can also download and try the program FlashX3 (I think that is what it is called)

Boot your buddys XBox with his chip
Ftp Over The prpgram FlashX3 to his HDD
FTP Over The bios you need on your chip to the root of c:\ as well
Start his dashboard
Remove His X3
Replace with your X3
Launch the FlashX3 Application
Flash your chip by selecting the bios you copied to his HDD earlier
