I want to learn how to jtag a console by myself from start to finish. I'm at the point where I feel comfortable with my soldering skills & I'm ready to start learning how to jtag. I have 4 xbox's that are on 7371 dash or lower & the manufacture dates are all before June 2009. I'm having trouble finding the most updated or the closest as possible noob jtag tutorial from start to finish. The only tutorials that I found that takes you thru the jtag process from start to finish is tutorials that hasn't been changed/updated since 2010 or 2011, I'm not sure but I think there has to be an updated/easier method out there am I wrong?
I've used the images on j-runner as a guide to show me the points that need to be soldered, I just wish it showed exactly which points need to be soldered but I'm pretty sure I can google them. Another question I have is that in most tutorials that I saw an LPT cable was used, along with a CAT5 ethernet cable, a db25 (male) connector & an rj45 coupler. I'm not sure but I think that I saw that newer methods replaced having to use these things, I don't remember what it was. Also is the diodes & resistors still needed? I think I remember seeing that though a resistor is not needed, it is definitely recommended, am I correct? I'm not sure about the diodes
If anyone can please point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. If no thread is available on here or from another site, the most trusted tutorial on youtube would be great

I did one last week on a bb jasper, used the qsb that came with the nandx but altered the location of the red and yellow wires to the aud_clamp method and then used jrunner to do the rest. Worked like a dream, really easy all up and running on the latest dash 16197 with fsd 3 etc.

Download JRunner and follow the tutorial.
Yes I'm following the J-Runner's User Guide but the tutorial starts off assuming that I already soldered the wires & installed the drivers to the Nand-X & soldered those wires onto the motherboard. i was hoping that I could find a video tutorial showing exactly how the wires should be installed & exactly how to install the Nand-X

if you need a guide dont worry too much about dates since the last update of the guide. everything you need is on this site the guides just havn't been updated in a long time because they dont need to be. non hdmi consoles only have one method anyway for the jtag wiring and hdmi consoles i would suggest just going with the audclamp open tray method as its by far the easiest and is very reliable.

Do NOT do this.

OP - you sound like you've never held a soldering iron, never mind modified a games console.

I strongly suggest that whilst your aim is to 'learn', you are better getting someone to 'teach' you. Find someone local who does console mods and watch them do one of them. See what's involved. You can then decided whether you want to do it yourself.

Aside from all this, we are not a JTAG soldering help forum, even though there are countless guides on what needs to be done including videos and pictures. We expect you to read these before posting. I won't even get started on the countless guides available on the net for doing the same thing. If you are still clueless after all these, it really isn't for you. Don't feel bad about this. Just read through the many 'I f***ed my console trying to RGH/JTAG it' and think about whether you want to join this category of wannabe modders who didn't listen to any advice given to them.
