Ok I've flashed Hitachi v47 before and an MS25 before no problems. I tried to do my brothers Xbox today and noticed it was an MS28. I didn't think it was that much different but it is...

I have a Via 6421 Card installed in my Desktop that I purchased from Newegg... I'm not sure if I have an A or an L; I tried checking in Device manager but no go..

Anyway, I am unable to use a USB Thumbdrive to boot my computer since my Bios doesn't support it so I'm stuck with NTFS 4 Dos but I am used to that from my previous MS25. I am following Textbook's PDF tutorial like I did with the other Xbox's i've flashed and I get stuck.

I am trying to flash the MS28 using the Bad Recovery Flash Method. I've already made Iprep and have it on my C drive. I turn on my 360 and my computer at the same time with the SATA cable detached for now..I then run my copy of NTFS 4 Dos (I dont think it changed, never checked tho) I get to the screen and get to a command prompt, plug in my Sata Cable and try to type "idump 1234567 12345 " at no point do I see MTKFlash run at all and it just sits there and shows "IDE Sec Master and IDE Sec Slave" nothing with Xtreme like its supposed to...

Thats the part I am stuck at. I am trying to flash with v1.2C fast as I've heard quiet isn't as good and some are experiencing problems with it.

Do I need to edit something in order to get Xtreme to show up? I remember when I did the MS25 it showed up just fine...

Hopefully someone can help :)

it should work just like the v25 did.the only thing after it show the xtreme master that is when you turn the drive off hit the number for xtreme master wait for 10 sec then turn it back on.
being that it dont give you the xtreme master then the computer is not seeing the 360 drive.
try a different sata cable.if this computer has done a v25 it should do a v28.

on the usb flash.if you did not.try this.
make the boot flash leave it in the computer restart the computer and go strait to the bios.look for usb zip in advance bios setting and put boot from other devices on top of boot from hard drive

Cofree thanks for the response... I do have another Sata Cable so i'll try that and even swap it into Sata Port 1 or 2 whichever it wasnt in. I did the v25 like 2 months ago; my Sata Card doesnt get much use.

Also thanks for the tip on the USB drive for booting.. I tried booting the computer into the bios w/ a USB drive but not making it bootable. So I'll try that; its a Dell 8250 and I know the bios's are very basic but its worth a shot...

i use a dell 4600 with the a06 bios.it works
Unfortunately my 8250 is about 5-6 yrs old and the most recent bios is A04 and thats what I've got... it doesn't look like they ever added support to have usb boot support

I got it working!! Cofree thanks again for your help. I disconnected all drives including my SATA 500 GB with the exception of C drive where Iprep was; swapped out my SATA cable, switch the SATA port it was going into and I was in business. Worked like a charm! I backed up by hacked/orig.bin in 10 places. I also checked to see if my backup copy worked and it did.

Thanks again for your help on this. Appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to help someone next time.
