I am flashing my x3ce 1.6b xbox with a disc, I followed every direction with care! I start up the xbox and select load bios from disc, then insert the CD, the screen changes and says "WAITING FOR DRIVE" Then after about 1-1/2 minutes the screen changes back to "Insert CD - flashing mode" or whatever and the disc gets ejected. WTF

I used the XBIN X3_1463.bin and a 100MB dummy file. When burning in Nero I changed X3_1463.bin to BIOS.bin just to let you all know.

G'day mate, going by your post in the last topic you have the old bios because you haven't been able to access xbins yet. The bios you have is very old so i highly reccomend spending the time to find an up to date copy. We can help you with that, read the post i put on your other thread. As for this problem with Disc's not reading i believe it is due to your media. What disc's are you using. Xbox drives are picky. DVD media is the most reliable but not all of them work, some CD-RW's work, and even less CD-R's work.

Try burning to a different brand and see how you go. Alternativly, hook up your PC and flash via Http.

No, I figured out how to get the xbins, I downloaded most of the xbins. Including the 1959 bios.

Im using a CD-R, I have a 1959 xbin bios, should I use that instead of the 1463 bios? I also do have DVD-R's incase that would be a better way to flash my xbox?

And should the 1463.bin file have changed automaticly to BIOS.bin, or was I suppost to rename it manually as I had done?

The reason why I want to flash with a disc is that I dont know how to correctly/where to put the wires. I have a crossover cable. But I cant really do much since I dont know where the wires go. I have a router and a cable modem. If that would help. Before you answer this question if you will, please answer the above first.

If you have the file, use the 3294 bios. The higher the number the more recent it is. Yes Use DVD-R if you have them available. It will be more reliable. Oh, and the file name does not get renamed automatically, you have to do that yourself so that part is correct.

Alright, I do have the 3294 BIOS, and I'll take your advice.

For the future, what happens after I flash my xbox?

After Flashing BIOS :-

This puzzled me, i Flashed it and then sat there fiddling with different options. I eventually gave up for a month and then read up that i need to install a Dash, Slayers Auto EvoX Installer is easyest method i found.

What is the Dash for?

To ROOKIO:
My DVD burner doesnt burn what I need it to burn...So I am once again going to resort to the "xbox to computer" method which so far noone has helped me with.

Is there ANYONE brave enough to get me an ACTUAL tutorial on how to connect my XBOX to my COMPUTER so I can FLASH my XBOX?

DO NOT SEND ME TO THE TEAM XECUTER'S FLASH BIOS TUTORIAL THAT DOES NOT TELL ME HOW TO CONNECT MY XBOX TO MY COMPUTER

A tutorial with pictures would help me even more!

How much do you know about your PC? What network cards have you got on it? The biggest error people make when trying (and failing) to setup their Xbox and PC to communicate is that they don't know how to configure ther own PC.

There's plently of guides on doing this, so get reading.

Start here:

Here is a good tutorial with pictures on networking your xbox to your computer.

http://evox.xboxhackz.net/evox/guides/body_basic_networking.html

If you have a CD-RW, I would recommend trying that first as they have always worked well for me. And even if it doesn't work, you can always erase it. When I flashed my bios, the first time I made an XISO with Qwix and got the same problem as you. The disk ejected and it showed the insert CD message. Then I tried making the disk following this tutorial:

http://www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/cd.htm

And it worked flawlessly. Make sure you are following the tutorial correctly. And for the record, I used TDK CDs.

To answer your question before about the dash....They are used to launch games that you have saved to hard drive and to network your xbox to your computer (But X3 eliminated the second reason). For you, I wouls recommend starting out wih EvolutionX.

I'll try those guides.

I will read the whole thing but for now I just skimmed that guide, once I have a static IP on my xbox, the new bios is uploaded...or what?

Also, after I flash my xbox, do I go to the main xbox menu like with Live, music, memory etc? If so, when I install a dashboard, will there be an option for it?

Im sorry for all these questions, I just want to know what will happen and when or how.

G'day, as you'll find in the guide, once you setup your network correctly, you can use Internet explorer to load up a page that does the flashing of your chip, so in answer to the question, no, the static IP has nothing really to do with the actual flash.

Once it's flashed you will see a new menu called X3Config Live

From there you can FTP new files or dashboards onto the xbox and you never have to see that ugly green M$ dashboard again.

Have fun mate!

You're not in a position right now to be skimming guides. You need to read everything offered from cover to cover. Once you do this, you'll find you won't be posting questions like you are.

Best start is to read the tutorials already listed here. Official Flashbios Tutorial

Then search other peoples posts. There is a wealth of information around here.
