oh and forgot: I bought a good multimeter too ...I believe those 2 are indeed the only 2 busted...

well I'm now busy retracing the one at lad2..I bought a conductive pen today in den haag ...it's worth a try

but my question is still: is it worth trying? I tried to retrace (dunno if it worked but tried) both busted parts earlier and still got a frag and a power cycle of 3 times on and off...is that safable?

I think it is possible to fix your board IF you do not do more damage to it.
You do need to use extra thin wires (looks like hairs) and fix the traces.
Solder directly from the connection point of the trace to what you need to solder...

Do not make it worse. Do it the right way. And show us a picture of your soldering iron please, I am sure this is the source of your problems.

Should have been ok at the begining...
Personally I would replace the traces by thin wires. (like hair thin) but you need a very very small soldering iron for that.

Good luck, and keep us posted if it works at the end.

thx...and thx for the advice..but I'm following this tutorial:

http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9334

I read and understand that replacing the traces would be a better idea..but I have no idea where to start and where to retrace just looking at lad3 makes me wonder where that silver hole goes wich still resides.....

ps hair thin wires? would utp wires work?

this is a great thread...having the exact same issue with the top most burnt out trace(LAD2 i think?)....tried some conductive pen, but no go, probably didnt expose enough of the trace.

if I am getting one led on the chip, does this mean that the other led isnt on due to the fact that this trace is broken?

thanks guys.

i still havent removed my LPC yet so i can patch up my traces, i tried to do it without having to remove it, which makes it so hard...

will remove the LPC rebuild tonite and try again, probably make it alot easier...

just a quick question, since im a n00b...i have a mulitmeter, where do i need to put the red and black mulitmeter prongs in order to check for resistance, and what am i looking for on my reading?

cheers!

well what I do ..is test either the resistance (the Ohm icon) or the continuity (the diode icon) ...the way to test this is put prong 1 on end 1 of the trace you are testing...and prong 2 on end 2 of the trace you are testing...if resistance drops to 0 (or close to it)..there is no resistance (wich is good)....if it drops to 1 (or some testers to infinity) there's alot of resistance....and if you are not behind a resistor that's bad

oh forgot to add: make sure the xbox isn't connected to power :p most multimeters are selfpowered and powering the xbox would just make it bad

if you use the continuity tester...(the diode)...your multimeter should start making sounds if the trace is good...(some don't)

think I'm going to give up :S the conductive stuff doesn't seem to conduct or something..quite weird....but when I test the trace..no matter how much of the stuff I put on it...just won't give a beep on the continuity tester :S

my conductive stuff worked and repaired the trace, but i cant attach anything to that area via solder as its too hot and burns away the conductive silve.

what can i do about attaching a wire there?

Infront Of my Computer.
If you want you can send me your xbox and I will repair it for you for free. But you have to pay the S&H.
