Hello Xbox geniuses,

I'm a noob at the xbox chipping scene and i decided to dive straight in and go for a xcecuter3 as it seemed easy to install. Im a PS2 modder expanding to new fronteirs. I am modding my mates xbox for him as he's crap.

I installed the LPC header pin with no problems except for the fact that the header ended up spun around back to front. His fault not mine!! he dropped the header pin and put it back in himself while i wasn't looking!!!!

the soldering job is excellent with no excess of solder.

How hard is it to remove the header pin? what tools should i use a pump or wick? will this affect the install?

Have we just ****ed his xbox up?

HELP!!

wick would be better for that application IMO.
next time tell your friend dont touch anything unless he wants to mod it himself. either that or chop his hands off. then you could keep the XB for yourself.

I am waiting for my desoldering wick to arrive by post then i will attempt it.

couldnt believe it when it happened i was so chuffed with the soldering then i went to put the lpc rebuild board on and noticed it then.

has anyone had to do this before or am i the only fool?

i hope this isnt a hard job as i am a noob at soldering at this tiny scale. Im only dreading the d0 point..............

The pins slide out from the pin header fairly easily. So, you could even desolder just the 2 or 3 pins from the FULL row and put them in the opposite side. That should work as well.

That would be a loot more difficult imo and would likely end up with bend pins. Just rmeove the whole thing, i also actually think a sucker would be better as you can literally ping the ping inside the nozzle and suck away.

i had thought of that but i was afraid that i would get solder everywhere by pullin the pin out./ what if the solder was to get between the header pin and the mobo then it would short. what if i was to push it through and push the solder out would that work?

i think it may be better to get the pin off completely and start again. i dont know i need your expertise.

Yeah, taking the whole thing off is probably a cleaner way to do it. Swapping the pins was just an idea. I had to replace one of the pins and it was pretty easy to desolder it and slide it out. Anyway, do what works best for you and gets it working !

Thats what I did. I soldered the ****ing pin header in BACKWARDS. After desoldering, I figured out that the plastic part was somehow glued to the board due to heat. So i just heated the pins to soften the surrounding plastic and rebuilt the header while it was in the board. BIG PAIN IN THE ASS, but it worked.

braid arrived yesterday so i got stuck in.

found the braid hard to use and i ended up trying kowrips suggestion and heated the pins and carefully slid them out. came out really easy and clean so it was easy putting them where they were meant to go.

Continues and did the pcb rebuild (1.6) and soldered all remaining joints, taped them down and put it all together.

SUCCESS!

first time lucky? maybe or maybe i just took all you xbox genius's advice on these great forums on how to do the job properly. It really is all about taking your time and checking everything 5 times.

I was amazed at how easy the rebuild was with the small PCB hats off to team executer!

the chip is phenomenal the amount of power it unleases in the xbox is quite amazing.

I am a seasoned PS2 supporter but your chip alone has made me start to save for one.

so annoyed i have to give this beast back to my friend :(

keep up the good work!!

Get yourself a flat iron soldering iron, heat the whole pin header up and that puppy should slide out. Dont use anything more than a 15 watter though, you will melt the plastic.

he has allready desoldered it and got it working...

Btw- did you say it was a .Bin file?? that isn't right, you should just click on the EvoulutionX tab and it should be it there as a .zip or a .iso file (i cant remember, lol). try again with a different file

PS: you probably downloaded the bios instead of the actual dashboard. Look in a different section (apps maybe??)

how do you install the other dashboards as applications? this is so i can load avalaunch and xbmc ive heard its possible in forums.

I got my LCD screen installed over the weekend also, looks exactly like gavsters but without the dongle and with a pro switch. i will post pics of it soon.
