Error 7 means harddrive timeout. It doesn't have anything to do with your modchip. Is this a new drive? If so, set the jumper to cable select and see if that helps. See the link in my sig for more info on error codes.

You really should unsolder that red wire and cut it so there isn't so much uninsulated wire showing. It could cause a problem down the road.
