HITACHI NON-79 Help me solve the mystery of my 47 drive which used 79 firmware...

I purchased a used Xbox in April this year. The label on the drive says the Rom Ver is 0047DJ.

I connected it to my computer today for the first time, and JungleFlasher reported it was using 79 firmware.

Is it possible the label on the drive is wrong? Is there any reason for the previous owner to spoof a 47 drive to a 79 drive?

I believe it to be a 47 drive, because it seems to have been bypassing AP2.5 checks. I have been playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit with older AP2.5 data from back in April.

My best guess is that is is a 79 PCB in a 47 shell.

I was thinking... does this sound plausible: The previous owner decided to spoof a 47 drive to 79, because the motherboard only works with a Hitachi 79 drive?

If you replace a drive in an xbox, is it necessary to match the firmware too?
