Ok,

I have been asked to update firmware on a drive, but it turns out that the drive is a hitachi 79 that has been spoofed as a liteon 74850

It shows up in jungleflasher as liteon.

Can someone tell me how i can unlock it to read the key in order to flash it again with correct firmware?

Thanks in advance

A simple search return a few answers....

Here's one....

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Hitachi wont respond to Liteon inquiries as it isnt really a Liteon. Try going through the process as if your drive was never spoofed as a Liteon. Once the FW is written, you should be good to go.

*Hitachis get goofy when you try and spoof them. The above mentioned suggestion may not work. However, it is where you should start.

Thanks

I have managed to unlock it as if it was a regular 79, but i now keep getting a "Drive rev undetermined, Aborting!" message when try to dump the firmware.

Pain in the arse this drive is becoming lol

Ok

All sorted

The error I was getting was due to the drive not liking me using native IDE in bios

Set to legacy and all good
