Firstly, my xbox wasnt booting up at all, (fragging) i noticed a soldering fault, rectified it and now its working but as it would work without the mod chip (it only pauses for a second when the geen X appears)

anyhow the problem that i'm having right now is that my xbox boots up normally with the modchip in it, the box is open and all i can see is a blue LED lighting up on the x3 chip, no LEDS light up on the external chip. Please help as I'm a newbie..
Thank you

Saud

Re: help needed, v 1.6, external switch for x3 doesnt light

make sure the cable between the external Memory module is properly connected to the X3 chip. can be a little hard to get it in, but don't be afraid to use your awsome muscle powAA to make it fit properly

Re:

Thanks rasgal, but the connectors from x3 to the external switch are connected quite decently, besides they dont go in the opposite way and i'v checked them too, the problem before this is that the 3.3v LED on the x3 doesnt light up, only one blue LED(5v) on the x3 lights up.
thanks

Far from here!
Re: help needed, v 1.6, external switch for x3 doesnt light

If they still dont light up then its still a solder problem. Just double check to be sure. It is usually the simplest things! :) If both leds on the x3 light up and it boots fine then check the wires and make sure that they did not get cut or anything when you were putting them through the holes in the controller ports. If they are fine then get your meter and check to see if any voltage is getting to the switch.... just some suggestions...

rasgal, its only the 5v led thats turning on, junkman yea i bet it is the soldering thats not good even though i'v checked it again n again..

one more thing, the pins 15 and 9 both of them show 0v when i check with a multimeter, dont know what to check now, its frustrating..
thanks

Re: help needed, v 1.6, external switch for x3 doesnt light

It seems like you maybe have a short circuit somewhere.
turn off your box and measure ohms between the on the pinheader you soldered. do not use the beeper.

if you get 0 ohms, somwhere you know where to look.

i't could even be that you have soldered one of the wires at the wrong place.

a friend of me did not find his error after 6 tries on his xbox, i found it at my first.

so it's all about taking it easy and relax.

Re:

okay everyone!! or the ones who know my problem,
i resoldered all the connections using the D0 (rebuild pcb) previously i was using wires, but nothing has changed .. pin 15 and 9 both are short and they both have 0volts. I tried giving 3.3v from the power circuit but it doesnt light up the second led (3.3v) infact the xbox turns off, and that is because (i m guessing) that the pin 15 and 9 take that other 3.3v (from power circuit) to ground.

I'v checked my soldering and now it looks really clean and all good, but still no 3.3v LED, any suggestions anyone??

check to make sure you don't have solder splatter on other parts of the board (the shorting may not be right at the pin header).

Re: help needed, v 1.6, external switch for x3 doesnt light

you guys were right, the header pin wasnt soldered good enough even though i did it twice, anyhow i'm gonna make it permanently good,

for now, when i short them the second light turns on (3.3v) and when i reboot the xbox while keeping that connection short the external switch lights up red, stays red and xbox turns off and then on and then red light (its called fragging i kno) but yea its after i get the two LEDS turned on ..

same person with different problem this time, help guys!!!

BenQ Problem

I dont know what im doing wrong someone help plz.
I have tried with 2 xbox drives that were previously untouched.
Backed up Both firmwares w/KEYS on 2 seperate flash drives.
Now heres the problem....
I used DosFLASH32 backed-up firmware for 1st drive.
used 360-FW Tools to copy KEY from FW file i just created and than loaded ixtreme 1.6.1 with 360-FW tools and pasted KEY from Original F/w and saved
loaded DosFlash32 again wrote the new ixtreme161 w/Original 360 Key
Write process Successful !YAY!
:-(
To my surprise when i hook it all back up and plug into tv, Backups and Originals all appear as "Play DVD" bummer
SO i hook it back up to pc do the little half open half closed
Run dosflash32 gives me some prompts after a lil playing it detects it again. so i earse and write the original f/w that i got when i started the process and hook it all back up and still get the same outcome.
everthing in the drive appears as PLay DVD wont run actual game data

I ttried the same thing again with a clean untouched benq and still get the same thing i backed up the f/w correctly have to seperate drive keys but wont play games wether i flash iextreme or put original back on, what did i do wrong please someone help

and while i may be new to the 360 modding, i do work with computers and am kinda fustrated that i am having such a problem,
