Ive installed the x3 on 1.0-1.5 with no problems, this is the first time i tried the install on a 1.6b (Hynix ram etc)

I get both blue lights on the X3 chip when turned on, the problem is when I press the power switch to turn the xbox on, I get a red X on the external switch and the hdd light flashing blue, on the screen I get the MS orignal dash.

When I press the eject button to switch on the xbox, the external switch has a blue x but I get a blank screen with the eject buttone flashing green?

Is there something wrong with my install?

There's a knack to this!

Press the power button and immediately after, press the eject button. You're still pressing them at the same time, just get to the power button a little earlier.

i got the purple light on, but I get a blank screen (prob wrong flashBios version, if that is the case then I should be able to fix that)

Also is there something I missed out as I believe the eject and power buttons are the wrong way round? i.e the power button switches on the xbox with the mod disabled, and the eject button switches the mod on with the chip enabled?

It does sound like a FlashBIOS issue. Try booting from Banks 1234 and then 5678. you may get lucky and have a copy of FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on there. If you can't find a copy, then you'll need to reflash the chip with FlashBIOS 3.0.3.

If you press the power button for a VERY short time (just tap it), the Xbox will boot with the chip enabled. A longer press will disable the chip. Try it!

Thanks for your help :D

There was flashBios 3.03 on the chip, jst had to switch to banks 3/4.

Installed the X3 bios on and it solved the problem of the eject and power switch being wrong way round.

Thanks again m8

Re: First case mod

this is very nice i really like the blue and black color scheme. the only thing i would suggest is some kind of filler (like bondo ) for the nicks in the hard drive case. still a great job, yet another great case mod for the site.

Re: First case mod

dude you did one hell of a job for your first time modding. cuts look very smooth, paint is nice. What brand paint did you use?

Re: First case mod

Thanks :D yea I wanted it to match my PC that I built a few months ago which is black with a window and blue lighting. I kinda messed up on the hard drive I did that cut free hand thats why I have those cuts from the dremel, I didn't want the window that big and I have bondo but I don't know why I didn't use it and I didn't want to repaint afterward. For the paint I used rustoleums ultra cover 2x but I think next time I'm going to use the stuff made for plastics though like krylon fusion I heard that works really well. I don't know if it was me or the paint but I felt like when I was painting it wasn't even some spots looked more wet than others but after it dried and a coat of clear it looks ok.

Re: First case mod

the paint is very nicely done i agree i would not mess with it just for a couple of nicks. sorry if it sounded like i was knocking it just a friendly suggestion.

Re: First case mod

Very clean man...nice job for first time...vinyl fabric dye works great too if the color scheme is simple. Leaves a silky finish just have to clear it real good to get amazing results.
