I was messing around with some things in the BIOS and there was this option that said "Pull Trigger On Startup to Boot: (whatever)" So I put Xboxdash.xbe. Then I rebooted and held the trigger and the screen came up all black with a white bar at the top. I tried rebooting and holding white to go to the BIOS, same thing. I try just rebooting to go to my dash, same thing. I tried every BIOS bank too, then I tried going to the 256K backup (holding power & eject) and then I do "Enable Network Flashing" and so I try to FTP with "Username: x3". "Password: x3", and it would not connect. Please somebody, I can not figure this out.

The Flashbios is HTTP not FTP , try using your web browser to connect to it.

You could try an older BIOS like 3029, or even try putting the BIOS on a CD and flashing instead of via HTTP. Those are some of the things I would try.

I've tried tons of BIOSes. None have done anything. But I realised now that when I hold the trigger it DOES go to the Xbox Dashboard but I just can't see it. I can only hear it.

Are you using the component cables (red yellow white) to hook the xbox to your tv ? If not then you should try those.

IF you have not toasted all the bios banks, and one has survived you might be able to boot to your hacked dash, and though you cannot "see" it, you could atleast FTP into it. If that works come back and let us know.
(At that opint there are some txt files we can have you mess with that can get the job done.)

Happy Modding!

I heard of this thing called "X3 Erase" or something like that. It's supposedly used to reset your EEprom. Would this be a good idea? I've tried all I can think of and nothing has worked.

First thing is first, there is a built-in reset that might work.

Hold down the A,B,X, and Y buttons all at the same time, and continue to hold them.
Boot the box with the chip enabled. (while still holding the buttons)
Once you get passed Rox My Box you can let go. This should force the chip to reset itself.

If that doesn't work then yes, there is an X3_Erase program. It is an .xbe file that comes with the X3_1959 Bios that you can get from the usual place.

Of course you have to launch the xbe from either something like Boxplorer, or set your Bios to boot the X3_Erase.xbe program as the default dash.
(The latter of which I doubt you can do right now.)

Happy Modding!

First off, yes the FlashBios network flash IS http, and not FTP.
Per the tutorial, use the IP address the FlashBios tells you it is using.
Open up an Internet Explorer window, and type in the IP address FlashBios SPECIFIES.

You will get a FlashBios webpage asking you to browse your computer for the Bios you wish to Flash.

2nd, You COULD hook up the HD to your comp IF you UNLOCKED your HD first, AND had the proper program, and you crossed your fingers.
You see, Windows uses "FAT", "FAT32", or "NTFS" as HD file formats, BUT the Xbox uses it's OWN format called "FATX".
Most of the time Windows can FUBAR your drive just because it doesn't know how to behave itself.

Slayers WOULD work, but since you have a Thompson drive you MUST use a DVD, and not a CD. (Preferrably a "Ritek" DVD) You see the Thompson drive is the WORST type of drive equipped in the Xbox.

Thank you everyone who contributed to this thread and especially CoHPhaser. I reset the EEprom using A B X Y on boot and got all my settings back and I'm good now. :D

btw, if you think I was helpful, in my post, the bottom left corner there is a square that has a block smiley. When you hover over it it says "Add to CoHPhasor's reputation", do me a favor and hit it. =-D

Lost Cause?

I'm sorry to jump in so late in the postings but...

I've tried all of the methods mentioned above and I still have ZERO luck. After accidentally (you can flame me later) enabling the VGA Patch and other unnecessary options in my X3 v3108 BIOS my XBOX (v1.4) will freeze at the "Xecuter Rox My Box" logo on the initial boot-up. In addition I flashed all 8 banks, so there's no older BIOS to revert back to (lucky me) and holding both POWER and EJECT does nothing (won't activate the backup 256K BIOS).

So...this means that I have NO ability to HTTP or FTP into my XBOX, so what options are left?

Well, the first thing to do is make sure that if you are trying to boot into the backup that you hold power slightly BEFORE you press eject to hold them both.

So you tried holding A, B, X, and Y all as you boot up to the Rox my Box and it doesn't work?

The only thing I can think of is maybe you downloaded a bad skin.
(When files are missing from a skin it can cause the X3 to freeze while loading)

Try using a boot cd like Slayers that sets up FTP automatically while booting with it.

IF none of that works, do like everyone else an start giving us your info.
Xbox ver, Bios ver, chip style, soldered or non, the whole nine.

Help us help you.
