help people i have just installed the x3 ce with lpc rebuild and the cp front on a v1.6 and it all looked to be running fine, that is until i came to install the bios. the first problem was that it would not read any of the dics that i placed inside of it: dvd, cdr, cdrw. i even followed the tutorial and no sucess. i then out of boredom and fustration i tried the normal bios (not the 1.6 plus ) it worked it flashed the modchip ony to turn off and not come back on. every time i turned it back on, it would, turn off, turn back on, turn off again, turn back on and frag all with no picture or sound. when disabling the modchip to see if the stock version still worked i get an erorr 05 please contact customer services. this has got me worried and any help would be welcome. oh and the back up works (eject + power) but it wont recognise any disks. and it wont connect to my pc.

You loaded the wrong BIOS... I don't think that the back-up will work with your xbox either.

What banks did you flash to?

A version 1.6 WILL boot from the backup Bios. 1.6b will not. (Hynix RAM)

Reflash using the backup Bios,...and error 5 is because you have an unlocked Hard drive in the system. (Once the drive is relocked it should be fine)

hello i have a version 1.6, samsung ram, not hynix. i left all the banks off when i flashed. i have also locked my hard drive and the stock version still works, thanks for the tip. the xbox does boot from the back up it goes to flashbios 3.01 but i wont reconise any discs, with cdr /w it keeps on ejecting them but with dvd it says "bios not found .. halting". i tried to connect it to my laptop using a crossover cable to flash it, but it just would not connect to the xbox.

Good news then, you can fix it fairly easilly. Flashing via Http is easier to trouble shoot in my oppinion, as different cd media can cause problems.

So connect it back up to you laptop, select http flash and then note the IP that you are given.

Follow the tutorial on http flash and let us know what the problems are that arise.

Cheers

Apparently,... I must have been correct,.... heh,.. imagine that

If you still have problems with the HTTP flash it's because of the lack of IP address assignment. (PC might not be assigning itself one, etc)

IF that is the case, I would tell you that the EASIEST way is to use a router. (The router will assign IP Addresses for you, or you can use a "Hub".

Let us know what's goin on.

TRUST me,...updating the Bios from the X3CL is MUCH more reliable than through the Flashbios,..I NEVER have a problem with an FTP flash to X3CL!

FTP is the way to go, so just borrow that router again ;)
