I was given this Jtag but I've lost contact with the person who did the Jtag for me, so I'm slowly trying to figure out all the things I need to learn on how to take care of an jtag. Anyway a lot of my newer games are not working it's giving me a "download game again" error. So I read that it's time to update the dash. I was following a tutorial on here & I just opened up from flash 360 & I attempted to "backup current nand to file" & "save entire nand to file". Everything read perfectly except for 1 block that gave me an error. It said Error: Reading block 2D2 status 250. I read that it's common to get random bad blocks but I also read that something may be wrong if it's a status 250 bad block. Can someone help me fix this bad block or let me know what steps I can take so that I can continue to update my jtag. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if it matters but my jtag is a:
Falcoln
My Nand Size is 16 MiB
My current Dash is 13599

Just use that nand in J-Runner to build a new image with your CPU key, then post your J-Runner log here. Chances are that you'll be fine if that image was pulled right from a 360-based nand reading app, but still doesn't hurt to double check.

In J-Runner, when it asks you for dash version, do I put in the dash that I am currently on or the dash that I want to go to? If if I have to put on the dash I want to get to, is it safe to use the absolute latest dash?

I'm following your tutorial but I just wanted to be 100% correct because I don't wanna make any mistakes or do something wrong & I brick the system. This is my 1st time doing this & like I said I didn't do the jtag so I am very unfamiliar with most terms & programs associated with jtagging. I hope you understand, it's not my intention to be spoon fed all information, I was just asking for confirmation

I created the new image but I don't know how to post the j-runner log on here. Also how can I know if the bad block that said- Error: Reading block 2D2 status 250 was fixed?

You dont "fix" bad blocks. Bad blocks (a small number at least) are usual for a NAND read because of imperfections within the NAND itself. It should not be a problem.

I'm sorry I didn't know, I just heard that if you get an error 250, then it's something more serious.

if J-R says its fixed then its fixed carry on ..
That's exactly what I wanna know, where on j-runner will it say that it's fixed. I see the tab where it tells you if you have bad blocks but it only has the bad blocks

lol ok " in other words " if you have got no errors from J-R then all is good, you should be well finished this now i hope lol ... as Statecowboy told you if bad blocks need remapping then J-R will sort it and again it will tell you if if there was errors or if it did remap...

Thanks a million LoneWolf913, J2G & Statecowboy
I successfully updated my jtag to 15574 & I got the avatar/kinect updates working with the official 15574 firmware update. I'm sorry if I was on the brink of pissing ya'll off with my noob questions & hesitation to just go thru the update LOL. I just didn't want to screw up my jtag. I do have 2 more issues though, that I would really appreciate help with. Dash Launch & Freestyle Dash 3
First off I'm not sure if the person that did my jtag installed Dashlaunch at all because I don't see the installer folder or the launch.ini on the root of my Hdd
These are the folders that are on the root of my Hdd1:
Cache
Content
Data
EMUS
FreeStyle
Freestyle dash
fsdata
Games
mindex
I also tried pressing X to boot straight to FSD but that didn't work. Is there another way to see if Dash Launch has been installed?
As far as FSD3, I was told that if installed incorrectly that it would mess up my jtag. I couldn't find a FSD3 install tutorial for noobs. I did see Amit's Ultimate FSD Set-up Guide, can I follow his tutorial but use the FSD3 files instead or should I only use a FSD3 tutorial specifically?

Dashlaunch is usually built into your nand (you just created your updated nand so you should know if you ticked it or not in JRunner). As for installing, it's simple. If you are booting straight into NXE (the MS dash) then the best thing for you might be to download the live installer disc and follow the on screen instructions. You can create the launch.ini file yourself that points to your FSD 3 install location and drop it on the root of your hdd. There are plenty of samples of example launch.ini files available for you. You should understand though that "installing" is kind of a misnomer. In reality you are just extracting the FSD files and folders onto your hdd where you tell it to. You can easily do this via FTP if you have access to your console, but assuming you are booting straight into NXE, this is why I am recommending you make a live disc.

If you did use JRunner to build your image with dashlaunch, then the launch.ini was configured for you. To see where it's telling dahlaunch to look for FSD just open JRunner and click on the "Launch.ini options" button. There is a "Default" line item. This is the location you are telling dashlaunch to look for the "default.xex" launch item for booting. In other words, this is where FSD is to be installed.

In the Launch.ini options the configuration is like this:
BUT_X is Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
Default is Hdd:\FreeStyle\default.xex
I didn't install FSD3, the person who did the jtag for me installed everything & I don't know what he did & where he has the files going to. I don't know which version of FSD he installed but I do know that it was never updated. I read that you can't install FSD 3 over your previous FSD or something bad will happen. I have access to FTP using FlashFXP, so if you don't mind & have the time to clearly explain what I have to do, it's much appreciated. I'm sorry but all the jtag terms & programs is still very much new to me & I'm trying to keep up. I'm content with my current situation but the only reason why I wanna update these things because it would be very convenient to have the jtag automatically boot into FSD so that the fan speed increase feature can come on & I wanted to update FSD because with the current version I have if there is a multi-disc game it doesn't automatically boot to the next disc. Do you understand what I'm saying? I'm trying to be as clear as possible

OK - since you can FTp into your console this is easy for you. Download just the FSD 3 package (not the live installer). Extract the contents of that package onto your HDD via FTP (should be 3 folders and 5 files total) into a new folder called FSD3 (or whatever floats your boat). Open your launch.ini file and edit the default field to the location you extract the "default.xex" file from the FSD 3 download. When your console boots it should boot directly to FSD 3.

BUT_X is Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
Default is Hdd:\FreeStyle\default.xex
What launch.ini did you read this from? It's just a text file. Use the same one you read from earlier. Just edit the
"Default is Hdd:\FreeStyle\default.xex"
to say something like
"Default is Hdd:\FSD3\default.xex"

I got that from when I created my original nand to updflash.bin & I clicked on Dash Launch Patches & I then opened up Launch.ini options in JRunner
