Hello All,

I have just been using J runner to put on my xell to the xbox. Here is my sequence have I this right?

First I put the Coolrunner into Phat, and PRG

Connected the Nand X to the coolrunner and supplied power to coolrunner via the dvdrom cable which came with coolrunner....

i installed both QSB Boards and connected nand x to both of them.

I loaded j Runner and made the numps of then nand.
Both were fine so went to flash coolrunner.

That too went fine so then created the ecc
Again no problems

Then I wrote the ECC
Completed again no problems

~I diconnected nandx from coolrunner and the qsb`s

I have left coolrunner in Phat switch and PRG Switch, is this right?

I have disconnected the dvd power cable which plugs into coolrunner.

I turn on console a red light turns on on coolrunner
The Amber light on the front of the console just flashes
and nothing pops up on the screen

Have I done something wrong here?

I know your going to say check my soldering but I just wanted to know if I am correct on the sequence?

Thankyou

Yea just checked everything over

Reflashed the coolrunner on jrunner
Put the coolrunner back to nor

The coolrunner powers up but there is just one static red light and thats it

And the front of the console power light flashes, no red ring or nothing like that

if you connected the coolrunner to the nand-x why did you power it from the dvd cable as well? i havent personally used the nand-x to coolrunner cable since i made my own, but mine powers the chip from the nand-x and i assume the official cable does the same please correct me if im wrong

but my point here is how can you tell that the coolrunner wasnt damaged by getting 2 power sources i? is just the fact that the chip can still be programmed sufficent to tell or are there any resistors or whatever that can be checked?

On another note I have just removed the Coolrunner QSB board as its looking in quite a bad shape so instead I have soldered the coolrunners connections on there place.

But now I have 3 red lights on the front of console..

So can anyone take a look here, advice me if I have missed something please?

Failing that I have no idea what has gone wrong

"Connected the Nand X to the coolrunner and supplied power to coolrunner via the dvdrom cable which came with coolrunner...."

Why would you do this? None of our tutorials show this.

"I have left coolrunner in Phat switch and PRG Switch, is this right?"

No, of course not - did you even watch the J-Runner video that was made?

Did you read my roadmap for n00bies at all?

" I have just removed the Coolrunner QSB board as its looking in quite a bad shape so instead I have soldered the coolrunners connections on there place. "

This was a really bad idea. Unless you are VERY good at soldering, you should never attempt to remove a QSB as you'll invariably damage points and traces.

Flash your original 50 blocks back to the console and make sure it boots. Go from there.

Hi Martin,

I have worked in electronics for years, first for Datel on consle repair, when the action replay prototypes use to blow the consoles, then for Nokia and motorola, and other electronics companies..

I have not read your guide I just followed another somewhere, i just thought they were pretty much going to be the same. But obvioulsy not.

So where did you see a guide to connect both external power AND NAND-x to the coolrunner?

Past electronics experience means nothing if you can't comprehend the dangers of voltage overload.

stby_clk looks bridged. Your wire insulation looks as if it taken heat damage from your iron.

Also we need a pic of the back to see your wire routing.
