Hey, my name is Carlos, writing you from Mexico. Anyway, i'm kind of tired now for being trying to setup my XBOX, i've read many guides and comments (from forums) looking for CLEAR! and straight answers to my doubts.
I only want to know how a XBOX with this modchip exactly works (not technically but functionally).
Let me introduce my case (please take some time to read it, i don't mean to bore you or bother you, hoping to make it up to you somehow....):
I own a 1.6b Crystal version of the XBOX (Hynix RAM, Xcalibur VC, Samsung DVD, 10gb HD) and 2 additional modchips (not installed yet).
I've installed a X3 modchip (ordered from system-mods.com) with the additional external switchbox, and i thought that once installed the only thing you have to do is set it to Enabled and that's it!.... but it remains showing a blank screen.
Then i thought that something must be installed (or loaded) to make the modchip do its work, so i've been investigating and i didn't find any real step by step guide from almost STEP 1: Purchasing your XBOX.... to STEP 1243218: Updating
I read about the bank switching and the cd burning, but anything seems to fit.
Facts:
- I've followed exactly the tutorial from http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm
- Then my questions started, how do i know that it's installed correctly, if the XBOX didn't explode and the switchbox and everything have energy? do i have to see anything on the screen or i have to install/check something else?
I resolder everything and the answer it's exactly the same.
I undestand that this modchip override the microsoft bios so it allows you to load another one with plenty of options such as playing backup games or installing them to the hard disk.
I burned the CD just like the Flashbios tutorial (http://www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/) trying to look for any answer from the XBOX, and it seems to read the CD and then the XBOX main LED turns to yellow always with the blank screen.
I've read that this can be caused by some missed soldering, but i think that is caused 'cause it doesn't have any bios loaded (in the hard disk or in the modchip), so i connect the XBOX hard disk to my computer to copy the .bin files to it. It detect its presence but then i realize (by continuing on research) that this HD has a different FAT, so that's why i can't even reformat it (i think), and i can't find any note about formating this HD or how to transfer files (not via FTP) from your PC to a XBOX.
So...... here's where i'am now!, please help me.
I think i can contribute by doing a newbie guide from "i've just opened and connected my XBOX" to "...then you can play now!"
