Having the same trouble as KB. I am using a Dell Dimension C521 computer and dont remember having this trouble before. Will try the usb pen drive on another pc but it seems like I-prep has not made it bootable. When I check the usb drive all the files seem to be on it but when the pc boots up I get disk read error even though I ticked the box in Iprep to make the usb stick bootable

Hey guys....i finally got my comp to boot in dos then into the iprep menu using the ntfs4dos cd method....but now i have another problem....when i turn on the 360 after 10 seconds it freezes at 1% and says control break pressed terminate batch yes, no, or all

this is what i have done so far

1. turn on 360 and type idump with serial #
2. i see xtreme pri drive i turn off 360
3. select xtreme pri drive
4. wait 10 seconds, even tried 4 seconds, and 15 seconds,
5. Each time i turn the 360 back on it the dump stops at 1% and it says control break pressed terminate batch yes, no, or all...

Im not sure if there is something i am doing wrong please help.....thanks cofree for your help so far.....

KB regarding the original problem of getting Iprep to boot into dos. Tried the usb stick on a another pc and same problem. So I downloaded Iprep again and iXtreme_Samsung_v1.2_revc_ixDef_for_iPrep and updated the XML file and redid the usb stick and it seems to be booting into dos now. I downloaded directly from Klutsh site. Might be worth a try and might sort your freezing you are getting with the NTFS iso

Just got round to flashing my drive now and all went well with Iprep. You seem to be having the same problems I was having at the start. Also by the sounds of it you are following the tutorial to a T. I think as Cofree mentioned the fault lies with the pc not picking up your usb stick. In my dell bios there is a section called "onboard devices" which covers your usb slots back and front. By default my ones where on but there was also an option called "boot off" which meant they would detect a usb device but would not allow you to boot from it. What pc are you using, also I used a Via 6421 pci ata card, how about you is yours definitley compatable

I always had problems getting my PC to boot with the USB drive, so I opted to go with the NTFS DOS method with no problems at all.

I'm pretty sure your vt8237 controller should work, although not the preferred chipset, but not 100% sure & Samsung drives can be difficult. I would go with the NTFS DOS method as it seems you have got further with that than the TUSB drive.

Although you have said since an earlier post, you have got to the IPREP directory, you initially stated you could not get to the IPREP folder but from what I read you were typing in the wrong commands, so lets just confirm you are getting that bit right...

This is how i type it in
C:iprep
Also make sure you accept the NTFS DOS disclaimer correctly by typing in "yes" and not just "y", I only mention this because I did that the first time & then NTFS DOS unloads itself & will give you an unknown command error or similar

Then you have to type "C:" then <enter>

Then the change directory command "cd iprep" then <enter> (Not C:IPREP)

From there you should be able to type your iDump 1234567 12345 command. Your drive should then show up in the list as you said before, "XTREME Pri Master".

Turn off your console select the correct number for the above drive & then try switching it back on immediately after selecting the number. If it doesn't read then go over the steps again but try 1, 2 & 3 seconds too, see if it then dumps. I have discovered that both my MS-28 drives read/write with anything from 1 - 4 seconds but will just hang at 01% like yours at anything after 4 seconds.

It's worth a go before you start thinking about buying a new PCI SATA card with a VIA VT6421L (preferred) or VT6421A (which I use). If you try this & still get the same result, then I would guess that you need to buy one of the above SATA cards. Luckily they are very cheap off ebay etc.

Good luck, let us know how you get on. :)
