Hi Guys,
Just updated my unlocked PCB with 0225 1.92 and all was well until...

When I unplugged the sata from the back of the PCB the plastic "L" that lives in the center of the sata plug broke off leaving me with a F*ed PCB    . I swear I pulled the sata cable straight back and the left over "L" is still wedged in the cable but none of that matters any more.

What are your guys recommendations to fix it?
I have zero soldering skill so I would have to find someone local to replace the plug unless you guys know and easy fix I dont?

Okay that's pretty bad! Sorry to see this mate.

You said you were good at soldering so...

You could get some kynar wire (30AWG) and solder to each individual pin and use heat shrink tubing to secure the points... Then grab a sata cable and cut off the connector and gently strip of the cover to expose the corresponding points to solder onto the cable... It's a laborious fix but it will get the job done! Remember to use flux and make sure you're soldering to the correct points...

Your alternative is to get another connector from a spare PCB i.e the one you are replacing and de-solder it from the board and re-solder it onto this one...

Remember to use plenty of flux for this and a soldering iron with less than 30W or you could end up causing a lot more damage.... Good luck!

If you dn't feel confident in doing this you could send it off for someone else to do...

Im located in New Zealand, have contacted a couple of local companies for quotes so ill see how that goes

how much would it cost to get you to do it for me? I would be keen but would have to factor in the prices of shipping

Its not like i can go out and buy another board as they dont make them any more so repairing it is my only option.

I would cost you a small fortune (in postage), I'm in the UK lol.

Good luck getting it sorted ;)
