So, a friend has asked me to flash their slim xbox (he has had it since last december) and hes never had xbox live, so it hasnt been updated at all (i think). So i assume the SPI wont be locked, can i just flash it straight to LT+2.0 to save me the trouble of having to unlock the SPI? Is that possible?

It might flag him for a ban but if he doesn't use xbox live it should be ok?
If i do this, how do i flash it? like a normal lite on?

haven't had the chance to look at the xbox yet to find out fw version, so if there isnt enough info here then just ignore it.

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

normaly throws an error if u are on LT and upgrade the dash (dash upgrade needed for latest games anyway). u may be ok, sometimes it just flags for ban, only 1 way to find out!. if it does change tho, it will lock the drive!

if hes never had a dash update then once you put new dash on 13604 it will spi lock it and then you have a list of methods you can do to unlock it or buy a tx board..while you have it check what drive it is, if its 0225 you can save the key as it dont change during upgrade ats what i done to get my key (0225)

Thanks for the help guys.

I'll check the drive when i get it, I just wanted to know if I should actually update the dashboard. But I will and then use Sputnik or whichever method I need.

If the dash hasn't ever been updated, flashing with LT+ 2.0 and update after is useless.
The update will reflash the drive, and lock it.

The best is to update with the original fw, and then flash.

The PCB will be locked, so yes, unlocking method is needed (sputnike, kamikaze or the easiest : TX PCB remplacement) :)

I know what you're saying but what if I flash to lt+ 2.0 and then don't update the dash after?

What's the xbox's dashboard version ?

The LT+ 2.0 is for latests dash (13599 and after), so... don't think it's a good idea.

Im not sure which dashboard, he hasnt given me his Xbox yet I'm doing it next week :/

If it wasn't 13599 or after, it probably won't work then?

I wasn't sure if would, but if it did work I was just thinking it would be easier for me to do.
