hey guys I just need to clarify a few things. Ive been reading through this and other forums, I read JF tutorial. I have tried to do as much as I could just reading posts. Thanks for any of your help.
What i want to do is
in order of importance)
1-fix my drive so it can read and play discs
2-configure a nonxbox hard drive to play my backups from it without the need of the --disc to start it. I hate getting up to change discs
3-Be able to play a game ISO on my DVD drive.
I have a liteon phat 360. i was getting the open tray error. It worked for a while by opening the console and manually spinning the disc or tapping the magnet on top or moving the lens to catch the discs. that lasted about a month. I tried different games, cleaned the discs, cleaned the dust and lens. so after some searching I read that it could be the lens that died out.
My friend has a few xboxs that he keeps for parts but doenst know what to do with it. So i found a benq drive he had and I read that benq and lite on have the same lens. I assumed the benq drive worked because I plugged it into my xbox and it was reading my games as DVD's.
I know its because of the DVD key, but that must mean it could at least read the disc right?
So I switched lens from the benq to my liteon and still open tray error. So its the drive itself right?
I downloaded JF and got it to run. I plugged a SATA cable from my computer to the lite on drive to get the key but I keep getting error messages about portIO. I have a 64 bit system, I truned off the sign checker while booting which didnt work, and I tried to manually sign it but I cant find the portIO64.sys in the JF download file which I need to tell the program what to sign. And I guess thats why JF says that there is no drive attached. Any ideas?
So I tried the cheap way and its not working. So Im looking to use the tools from team xectuer but I cant figure out which tools I absolutely need and Im not clear on what they are used for.
xbox360usb- is used to connect the dvd drive to the computer without portIO and SATA cables? So I can get the DVD key from a drive and assign it to another with just this?
I also see CK3 probes, CK3 pro, blaster. I saw in the JF tut that I need a CK3probe, so what is the blaster and CK3 for? can i get the DVD key without the probe, because I read some tutorials which didnt use it?
So can anyone clarify any of this for me? I would rather not spend any money buying other tools but I will if I have to
