Check out www.xbox-scene.com and read the tutorials there.

As for your solderless question, if you can find a way to solder on new LEDs without soldering, then I want to know. They do make pre-modded power button modules in blue, but thats $22 bucks. Why pay that much when you can spend $5 and do it yourself.

EDIT: Damn...got to him first. :p

first off, all i have to say is dont even start modding! i did tons of work, all for nothing. dont buy supplies from radio shack!!!!!! you wont even notice the leds are one, they are so dim. and they will break fast and easy, so just dont bother. go to sickmods.net and buy thier leds, free 100 ohm resisitors with every led, and all you do is but the resisitor on the + leg of every led, and you are good to go, no calculations or anything. so after you buy your leds from them, because they are in my opinion the cheapest and most reliable. then get back to me, and i will help you out with full description on what to do! cheers

Very true with Radioshack. I bought a bunch of red LEDs to light up my jewel, nothing but crap. I had to pump 12v through them to have anything show up. After a few died (was expected), I just sprung for a cold cathode. I did that fan mod from xbox-scene, but mine looks cooler.....by a long run.

What do you mean, "dont buy supplies from radio shack!!!!!!"? They have worked great for me... (of course, they cost a bit more, but I was willing to pay for the convience of getting my supplies immediately) I used eight yellow 3.3 volt 2200 mcd LEDs to light up my box's jewel and it worked fine. I mean, it's not blinding or anything, but it is still very visible, even in bright light. I had all 8 wired in parallel using 3 100 ohm resistors (making the actual resistance about 33 ohms). Y'all act like there is something inherently wrong with thier stuff...

PS: Does anybody know where I can find a 15kV, 30 milliamp transformer (AKA, neon sign transformer) for really cheap, other then eBay? I'm in the process of creating a tesla coil...

well, i got some resistors and soldered them onto the + pin on the LED's then just attached some + and - wires and put them into the HDD power source. and they work fine. i eventually will get some brighter lights because they arent the BRIGHTEST ive seen, but its good for now. Thanks for the help guys.

cool, but if you did all that work, why not toss some leds in the controller porst? it much much easier then running wires all the way to your windows and jewel ring!
