 I have a version 1.0 xbox and installed a xecuter 2.6 ce lite with a pin header. When I turn on the box, it boots up to a screen that says in like 12 different languages something like "Call for Customer Support". The first time i booted it up there was a 5 in the top left corner, then there was a 16....
WHAT THE HELL!

Nothing queer about that mate. That Call for customer support message means something has gone wrong

Error 5 means your hard disk is not locked
Error 16 is a dashboard error

Run through what you have done so far:

obviously you have installed the chip, but have you flashed a bios? put a new hard disk in?

give as much detail as possible

yo' mate

I figured out that the 5 was the hard drive because I had hooked up a new one. Then when I switched back to the stock harddrive the 16 appeared. I think that there might be something wrong with the external switch. (there is a white end and a black end, the black end is in the white part and the white end is in the black part) I haven't flashed the chip yet, do I have to do that before it can boot up???? I dont think so, shouldnt it boot up to flash bios 3.03???
Thanks for replying though:)

what happens if you bootup with the stock hard drive in and using you switch you disable the modchip.

it should boot up like normal - to the msdash

Yea, it should but it wont even when I turn the chip off (the only way to turn it off is the external switch, it doesn't have a switch on the actual chip), so thats why i think the external switch isnt working, im gonna mess around with it a little more and then get back to you.

Might want to run this test just to make sure your box is OK at the base level... remove the X2.6CE from the pinheader and disconnect the D0/LAN/HDD plug as well. Now boot your box with your DVD and stock HDD attached. Do you get this MS dash? If not I would suggest you start troubleshooting this problem first, as everything can cascade in domino effect. Work in increments, don't try and throw everything in there at once.

Still queer!!!

Yea, well I switched the wires for the external switch thing. Checked the soldering, and booted it up. Guess what... I got another error message, 7. what the hell is 7?? Plus the external switch still didn't work (I switched the modchip off from the external switch and it still booted up to the eroor message screen. So if someone could tell me what error message 7 means that would be helpful, if not i might have to redo all the soldering and try and see if it boots up to the msdash then.

Read my suggestion again, it doesn't sound like you tried what was recommended. These errors are unusual, especially skipping around the numbers like they have. Take the chip out of your box. You can leave the parts soldered on, but get the chip out of the mix. If you cannot boot to the MS dash with your stock HDD and DVD attached then you have a problem bigger than the chip... you may have f'd up your motherboard. There is no reason to put the chip back in your box until this is solved. Very carefully, preferably under good light and maybe with a magnifying glass if need be, check your motherboard for broken traces, solder splashes or other bridging via solder.

I know I've seen a list of system errors around somewhere, probably on Xbox-Scene or in the forum stickies around here.
