Hey People, new to the site but it looks great!! I'm new to this whole chip modding (Softmodder myself) so I have a quick question in regards to the Xecuter 2.6 CE Mod Chip.

My friend has this installed on his xbox (and it works flawless) but... when we try to disable the chip it gives the 5 error (unlocked hard drive). He wants to go with a soft mod so we can put on the Evox dash and all the extra apps.

So my question is, how can I go about getting this drive looked? He doesn't have a backup of the eeprom anywhere and he only has the stock M$ dashboard so I can't get ConfigMagic on there to make the eeprom backup to lock the drive with my linux tools?!

Any suggestions?

Why would you softmod a chip to put a different dash on there? The chip completely replaces the softmod, and is a much better solution. What bios is on this chip? You can lock the drive from flashbios, which comes on the chip.

Not really sure... my buddy just came up to me and asked to softmod it for him because he wanted a Evox dash and apps and such. Me not know about chip mods said "sure I can" :D.

As for the bios in the banks... I have no clue. Stupid question... is there a way I can find out?

Let me ask one more thing, is it posible to put the Evox dash on there via CD? Reason I ask is I saw another thread that someone had made that had a link to and ISO with Evox? WOuld I be able to use this or something similar?

Sorry about all the novice questions here. I know enough to allow me to mess something up, but not enough to fix a problem when it comes to these chips ;).

Any suggestions on how I should proceed?

Ok, after doing a little more research I think I found what I am looking for... Slayers ver2.6. I believe I can use this to install a new dash. I assume I can get this off of Xbins or some Torrent site.

Still don't know much about the BIOS and banks and all that but I think I'm on the right track. Unless someone has other suggestions or can see if I'm messing up somewhere please feel free to post. Other then that I'll consider this thread closed and if need be i'll make a new thread.

THanks for you response Fantmx.

Turn the Xbox on with the chip on. What do you see? If it is a blue screen that says flashbios, then you can lock the drive from there. You will have to flash a hacked bios onto the chip in order to be able to do anything. Get 5035 from xbins. Use the right version for the Xbox you have.

Thanks for the tips! Nope. No blue screen at all. Straight into M$ dash. The only reason I know it's the chip bios is because I see the Xecuter at the bottom.

With my limited knowledge of the whole bios thing I hope I can muddle through :) I've seen alot of tips on how to flash the banks so I think I have that covered (the HTTP ways seems the easiest)... just not sure what the difference is supose to be with the banks? One has like a Cromwell bios and the other an Evox for example? whats the purpose of having two BIOS? Oh well, I know I was getting off topic and my question is covered in a different section so I'll browse around there a bit.

I just got the SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_v2.6FINAL.iso off the net so I'm going to try that out as well. see what it can offer me :)

See if you can get this.
1. The chip comes with 2 x memory banks. Each bank will give you 512KB of storage. These are the places where you can store your FlashBIOS or hacked BIOS. Evox I think is a dash and not a BIOS.
2. I think that your friend already have the hacked BIOS on his chip. His problem is that he has not installed a dash other than leaving the original M$ dash. You should be able to boot up the box with your Slayers disk in it and go through the installation process.

FTP into your xbox....then look at your evox.ini file.....you should see a section that looks like this

Section "Root"
{
Item "Play from Disk",ID_Launch_DVD
# Item "Trainers",ID_trainer
Item "Return to Xbox Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
# Item "Power Cycle",ID_Full_Reboot
Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
# Item "Lock Harddisk",@210
# Item "Unlock Harddisk",@211
Section "System Utilities"

Take out the Number sign in the line-- # Item "Lock Harddisk",@210 ---

Then it should look like this...

Section "Root"
{
Item "Play from Disk",ID_Launch_DVD
# Item "Trainers",ID_trainer
Item "Return to Xbox Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
# Item "Power Cycle",ID_Full_Reboot
Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
Item "Lock Harddisk",@210
# Item "Unlock Harddisk",@211
Section "System Utilities"

The Lock Harddisk option will now be available when you power on your xbox with the chip enabled. Just select Lock Hardisk....then Yes.....and your good to go.

To take the option back out....FTP back in and replace "#" sign

Either boot to flashbios if you still have it, or download ConfigMagic and have that lock the drive.
