I was fixing my xbox using the pot tweak method, which I have done many times before and also fixed many consoles with the issue in the neighborhood etc, and yes I did use a multimeter.
I was testing my console while the mother board was out but I accidentally placed the multimeter wires on the surface of motherboard they touched some circuit wires and I heard a sound from the power brick the system went off and I saw the dreaded RRoD, but I still am not able to figure out what's the issue and whether I should
1. try to fix it
2. buy a new xbox
3. buy a new power brick
4. throw the damn thing out of the window

Option 4 has appealed to me on many occasion. Does the xbox RROD when u try to turn it on? What is the secondary error code? What colour does the power brick go when u turn the Xbox on?

here you go.

to find your secondary error code:

  • Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
  • Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
  • The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
  • Release the eject button and press it again.
  • The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
  • Release the eject button and press it again.
  • The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
  • Release the eject button and press it again.
  • The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
  • Release the eject button and press it again.
  • The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.

You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:

  • All four lights flashing - 0
  • One light flashing - 1
  • Two Lights flashing - 2
  • Three lights flashing - 3

0001 is a blown MOSFET. U must have shorted something when u dropped u'r multimeter. U will need to find which 'fet is blown and replace it.
