I installed an x3 into a brand new 1.6 xbox,
i only turned it on one time before i installed the chip just to make sure that it would turn on. (did not set the time)

however, after i installed the chip,
i flashed my bios, at first i used the wrong bios, but then i found the right one for the 1.6, and it turns on perfectly.
i then plugged in a brand new 80 gig hdd and formatted it in the x3 bios.
now some questions....
with the chip off the xbox will not load the MS dash, but rather an error message... 13, 16, 5 etc... comes on.
but if I have a game in the xbox, still with the chip off the game loads up fine.

also, I have not been able to succesfully log into my xbox using flashfxp
(after all that would be the easiest way to install a dash onto the xbox.)
and yes i have a cross over cable...
i have tried downloading iso-makers to try and create a boot disk containing evox, but it didn't work,

also, i tried burning slayers v2.6 onto cdrw's and that didn't work either

does anyone have any ideas as to how i can reset the ms dash so it will run with the chip off and no game in the drive?

also does anyone have any ideas on how else i can install the evox dash...

thanx..

For the MS dashboard not coming up, when you formated it using the X3 it formatted it and set it up for the xbox, but did not install any of the required files. To ftp into your xbox, you need to be in the config live screen. Make sure you have the network settings correctly set up. Then you will be able to ftp over your required MS files, a new dashboard such as Evox or UnleashX. Then when booting w/ chip on you should get new dash, and with chip off you should get MS dash. Hope this helps.

If u cannot ftp then u have not copied and restored your original m$ dash to your new drive...
put back your stock Hdd, boot X3 to config Live (press and hold white button)

Configure your network settings and then ftp to the xbox...
you then need to copy all of c: & e: to your pc...

then install new hdd boot under cfl again...(lock the drive if u want it to boot original m$ dash) and ftp back all of the backed up c & e drives...

ok, that makes sense about the MS dashboard being gone since I have replaced the hard drive...

but i tried to ftp into my xbox...
andi keep getting a message that there is "no route to host"
also, when i click on the connection on my computer it says that it has "limited or no connectivity"

I am a complete moron... but still need help...

i went back and decided to start from scratch with the bios and dashboard installations,

and as i reinstalled x3config live i noticed under the networks that dchp was disabled...
so i enabled it....
*sigh* and to think it took me two days to realize i didn't have the damn thing on.

however, a friend of mine let me burn slayers on to a dvd and it loaded up perfectly and i was able to install evox and all the other apps they have...

i decided to try and save a game...
unfortunately it saved the game in the "games" folder in the "e" partition... but when i formatted my hard drive it allocated more space to my "f" drive....

how do i get the app to save the game in the right "games" folder in the "f" drive...

and for those of you that resonded to my previous question...

thanx, it was the only reason why i decided to give it one more try...
