JTAG Help...

Finally received my Nand-X yesterday and decided to attempt to repair my broken Jtag machine. Little background on my broken Jtag...I was attempting to update something thru Xell about a year ago, something went wrong and all I got now was black screen. I heard I might be able to salvage it even thought I DON'T have my CPU key. Anyway, back to yesterday. I installed the QSB, ran Jtag tool and dumped my Nand. The Nand had ALOT of errors (wasn't surprised there) then I obtained an original Nand and replaced the faulty one. I hooked up the machine and still had black screen (I have not installed the Jtag QSB's yet) so now what?? Just install the Jtag QSB's and go from there? Or do I need to get my CPU keys first somehow if possible, or am I wasting my time on a dead machine? I would like to save it since this is my first experience soldering. I was actually proud of myself for installing the QSB's and reading/writing the Nand. Any help would be deeply appreciated...Oh my MB is a Jasper 16MB if that helps

You need the CPU key before you can do anything. Flash XeLLous to your console's NAND using JTAG Tool, install the JTAG QSBs, boot the console with the eject button and you should get a blue screen with white text - your CPU Key should be shown at the bottom. Once you have that, you can move on to create a FreeBOOT image and then flash that to the NAND.

Follow this thread for more detailed information (it is out-dated but the concept is still more or less the same).

Oh, does the disk drive and hard drive have to be hooked up when I attempt to boot into xellous to get my cpu key?

Well the little black switch on the QSB is all the way to the right if that is what you meant by resistor settings...umm also the DB1F1 point...should the wiring be going into the hole, or just soldered on top?? Kind of hard to tell by the pic...min is just soldered on top...thx again for all the help...

Ok I plan on posting pics later today..didnt have time yesterday. Another question though...I just ran the original Nand through 360 flash dump and all the categories under the Key tab all say "bad key/kv." AND i just realized that the Nand that I obtained is named "Clean Nand.bin" I am assuming since the nand is clean, that means that its not programed? Could this be my e79 problem?? If so how do I program the clean nand? Thanks...I am learning ALOT....

Until you have the console's CPU key you won't be able to decrypt the keyault to obtain this information.

What did you flash to your console specifically?
