i had a modchip installed in my 360 as i didnt want to risk it myself, when i turned my 360 on there was a sizzling sound and a burning smell, now my xbox just gives error messages whenever i power on, any help much appreciated

well whoever installed your modchip did a poor job, better call them up. YOu probably fried your dvd drive and now your ENTIRE 360 is usless.

and whats the error code?

can i not just get a new dvd drive and put the drive key from my old drive into the new 1?
and its error code e65 i thnk, il check later, i'm at my brothers house just now

well if you have th original firmware than yes you can inject your key. BUt if you have noi original firmware, your done.

well if the firmware chip is fried, than your 360 is usless. Unless you have the original firmware. And since you had a modchip installed the firmware probably wasn't dumped and therefor cant be recovered.
