hi there i just got my xbox 360 modded, is a one of the latest hitachi drive. been reading up on how to back up my games. is this what i need
a way to rip the game: wxripper, xbc, etc...

a dvd burner or does it has to b a dvd dl burner im not sure.

because im not sure but i see pplz talking about different way to make there back up i guess i just needa find my own way.

you will need a dual layer dvd burner and clone cd . it depends on how you are going to back up ie hotswap using an old dvd rom or buying the new kreon samsung drives or backing up from your xbox 360. you willl prob only need xbc and clone if using your xbox or the new kreon drives. hope this helps new to this myself.

Also, if you don't feel like paying for CloneCD, Xbox Backup Creator and ImgBurn are both free and work great. I prefer ImgBurn personally.

all right i just found out my friend has the pioneer 111d dvd burner so all i got to do is use my xbox connected to the computer and put it on mode b with the slax cd. then i got to use a program with one would i use with the hitachi 47d ? after that i would burn it with clonecd with a dvd-dl disk right

Read Textbook's PDF tutorial on this site, everything you need is there. It walks you step-by-step through flashing the 360 and backing up games and everything.

Hmm, I just read the whole thread again and you're only talking about backing up games now right? You can't use your 360 drive because you have a Hitachi, only Samsung can dump games. Here's 2 ways:

1) Do the wxripper method on your friend who has the 111D's PC. You need a DVD-ROM connected outside of the PC with the lid off and a large DVD movie.

2) Do the same wxripper method at home and then bring the images over on an external USB drive to burn.

Your best bet actually is investing in a Kreon drive.

I just went out and bought a Pioneer 111D DVD RW drive. I thought this was supposed to be "THE BEST" drive for all this stuff.

I can't use this to do it? I have the Hitachi 78 drive, I can't flash the 111D drive to read the discs?

Help me out, I'm so confused. Nothing in Textbooks tut. says anyhting about the 111D besides the Bi-setting. Why would anyone reccomend this drive if you can't flash it? THa'ts the easiest thing.

The 111D is the best burner for 360 games. If you want to remove the outer cover you can also use it to dump games using the wxripper/hotswap method but I'd recommend using a cheap old DVD-ROM for that (doesn't need to be a burner, just a DVD reader). The 111D cannot be flashed to rip games directly, only certain Samsung drives running Kreon firmware can do that. (You can get them on Ebay for around $40-$50) This is all covered in the "Backing Up Games" section of Textbook's tutorial.

i have tryed the wxripper and it did great but when i came to the ss merge it wus red and when i tryed to turn it got clone cd the files wus like 7k small wus am i do wrong?
