hi everyone, i have a small predicament, i wanted to jtag my console and i sucessfully took a read of my nand and compaired them fine, i then went on to create a xell image and started to flash it back to my console i then lost power half way through leaving me with a nand that cannot be written to :( i was speaking to a console repairer and he said that i would need to buy a demon nand to get my console back up and running, can anyone confirm for me if this is the case i have also purchased a RJTAG kit as i later found out that my console was to upto date to use the traditional method of jtag.

many thanks

kev

Forgot to add im on a PHAT zephyr, and computer is running windows 7 pro 32 bit :)

Console Type: (Zephyr)
NAND size: 16
Dashboard version: 2.0.16537.0 (i think)
CB version: 4569
Screenshot of NAND details from J-Runner:
(attach an image to your post)
J-Runner log:
POST output from J-Runner (either POST_OUT monitor or RATER output):
(2 cycles is enough)
updflash.bin log (if applicable):
Image of R-JTAG board:
Images of close-up soldering to motherboard:
(attach images to your post)
Description of problem: i read my nand twice and compaired them all good, i then created a xell bin file to flash back to my console but lost power halfway through, before i realised that i couldnt use the xell image anyway as my dash was to new, but now i cannot flash my original backup back to my nand, i have tried the shorting out trick but still no joy, i was told that if i buy a demon nand that i can use this to get my console back up and running, i have already purchased the TX RJTAG starter kit and i am awaiting it to arrive.
Was the console working before you started: Yes

you wont get any support if youre using LPT-cable to read and write the nand, get a REAL nand-reader and try the bad flash method again.

A demon won't do your consoles NAND any good as it's stuck in bad NAND flash mode. You will have to recover from the bad NAND flash before you can read/write to the NAND again. I believe you can find the guide for this in Martin Cs nandx trouble shoot guide. It's been a while so I can't remember for sure.

May I ask why this user wouldn't recieve help because he is using an lpt cable? I realize up that lpt sucks and is out dated but Tx did make lpt and they are still available for purchase from many reseller such as Xconsoles.

Realisticly a demon could get your console working but it would be a waste of a demon over an easy fix. You would basically be using the demon NAND on its own as a replacement NAND. Again this would work but is a waste.

a DemoN will read and write the nand even if its bad flashed so yes it would probably fix the problem.

the reason im saying he wont get any help is becouse LPT is not an recomended way of handling nand-tasks, and since its a TX product support forum and he dont have any issues with his TX gears theres no need for support yet.

thanks guys, yes martin c i read through the guide and i did the check with a multi meter and all my numbers seemed to match yours, i will purchased the nand x and then try again to see if i can recover the nand, if not then ill go down the path of the demon nand, so correct me if i am wrong but from Antalpromilles post it would appear that i can write to the on board nand with the demon nand even if it is stuck in bad flash mode ? i did also try to find another link for the 5v mod but i was not successful does anyone have any information about that ?

yes, you can flash your backup to the demon nand. In j-runner use option for demon remap, under advanced menu. then again, if you install the demon, the spi flash status wont matter, as the demon writes directly to both nands, so it will allow you to write the stock nand Image back to the stock nand

ok my demon nand arrived along with my jr2 programmer, just out of interest i hooked up the programmer and attempted to read my nand and to my surprise it read it fine leading me to believe that the nand was not infact dead :) i then wrote back my stock nand backup back to the nand but now i get RROD when i turn on the console :( any ideas as to why this would happen other than it needing a reflow ?

Make sure you have it switched over to the console nand. You can also try to write it to the demon to see if it will boot from there. If it won't boot from either, post some pics of the install.
