if you wanna reflash the bios on bank 1 here its a good tip
start you xbox in the bank with the legal bios like for example if bank 2 has bios v3.0.3. start xbox in bank 2 disable bank protection then switch it to bank1 and flash the chip it will overwrite bank 1 :D

You don't even need to switch to bank 1. FlashBIOS *always* starts writing at the first byte of the chip, regardless of which bank is selected.

Also, make sure your BIOS that you are flashing to bank 1 is 512KB. The X2CL series meets this requirement as is. If the BIOS is only 256KB you will get a FRAG when booting from bank 1 after flashing. Adjust the size of the BIOS to 512KB with X2 BIOS Manager. If the BIOS is greater than 512KB FlashBIOS will overwrite the BIOS in bank 2.

You don't need to have FlashBIOS version 3.0.3 on bank 2, depending on the version of your Xbox you may want to put FlashBIOS version 3.0.1. Look in the downloads section for details on version compatibility.

mate this is wrong if it starts writing to bank one why have a second bank and a switch if flashbios is on bank 1 change to bank 2 if its on bank2 change to bank1

He is correct, as long as the bios is 512 it will write to bank one. If you mess up or the write just fails you can boot from bank 2 and start over. I've done it several times now.

At first I didn't believe that it did so, but if you still don't test it out for yourself. The reason for having the switch is to select which bank you boot off of. FlashBIOS doesn't care (and really doesn't even know) where it boots from, or what is currently on the chip. It will just start writing at byte 1. If you have a 512KB file it will only overwrite the first 512KB. If you have a 1MB file it will overwrite the whole 1MB of the chip. The fact that this works as such is the perfect reason to always keep a working copy of FlashBIOS on bank 2 and only flash 512KB files. This way you will never overwrite the 2nd bank and will always be able to recover if something goes wrong with your flash. This is probably one of the most useful tips I've learned in the world of Xbox modding.

This logic is also why you need to build a 1MB file if you want to flash something to bank 2 with FlashBIOS...

But if someone is already running a mod BIOS and can load unsigned code I would recommend flashing via the utility FlashX. Most reliable way to flash I've seen short of having a programmer. With this software you can also choose directly which banks to flash, meaning you can flash bank 2 (logical banks 3 and 4) without having to overwrite bank 1.
