I am using a bootable USB pen drive, created using Xtreme Boot Maker, it allows me to make a custom MTKFlash and select my Via SATA card etc. I am using a VIA VT6421 SATA card alog with , obviously, an xbox360 with a samsung drive.

I boot with the drive and i get DOS, i type SAMREAD ********* ******* or whatever and i only get offered one thing and thats 1. IDE Sec Master which is my CDROM.

When I boot with my IDE cable out i get no disk drives error.

I am at wits end, i have scoured my bios and cant see anything obvious that can help with this error.

I am hoping someone here can help and yes, I have followed textbook's tutorial up until this point. Now I am stuck.

Have you tried using the SATA cable in a different port on the PCI card? Of the two ports on mine only one will work. I've flashed three MS-28's and each time XTREME PRI MASTER only showed up when I used that one port.

Yep, tried both the port on the outside and the one on the inside and none work.

Basically my sata card wont work unless windows is booted up.

the only via card ive seen with a port mounted to the outside plate has 3 sata ports. u sure this isnt your case? perhaps overlooked.

install new drivers of the via card.. and DO NOT install the RAID manager thing

General Pounder, that is the card i Have and my sata cable is plugged into that.

I installed new drivers without the raid manager thing and still the same error, gotta be bios....the card works in windows and shows in devicde manager just not outside of windows.

Are you doing an ms28? If so are you following the bad flash technique?

Have a look here, it's for ms28 with fussy VIA cards but the process would be the same.
