Have a X360USBPRO V2 & trying to rip with a spare Hitachi drive that has stock firmware on it. It's detected in Jungleflasher & as a test, I flashed it to LT 3.0, then straight back to stock.

I know the hardware & connection is fine because I removed my Liteon from my Phat Elite & it ripped my Fifa disc okay. However the Hitachi will not read anything even on my old games.

As an example, I insert the dvd, click on drive tools, then security sector & this happens:

If I click start & try to rip the game, then this happens after a few secs:

Normally I would have just got another Liteon & flashed it with 0800, but because I had an X360USBPRO V2, then it has the feature of being able to use stock drives, so went for a cheap Hitachi instead.

The only thing I can think of is that it's a firmware issue. Before I disabled it in the settings, the autorun would always start playing the xbox games as a dvd movie. So the Hitachi is reading the discs. The problem seems to be with the reading of the security sector.

Any idea as what to do to try & sort this out?

Honestly, I'm not totally sure. I assumed it was okay because I can insert a game disc, then play it as a dvd disc on my computer. Is there anything you think I can try to rule it out one way or another without having to install it into my xbox & spoof it was a liteon?

Thanks

A quick update:

It's still not reading my actual dvd's. Always fails at the security sector. Whereas my Liteon reads it perfectly & rips the game in XBC.

I have just burned one of my games on a Liteon EHBU 312. I re-connected the Hitachi to my pc, opened it up & inserted the burned game. It reads it in XBC, but this time the start button is greyed out.

So tried opening up Imgburn & seeing what that would do. The Hitachi worked perfectly to rip the burned game(s) (tried 2 to check) back to an ISO. Ran the ISO through ABGX360 & it was all fine. Then tried it with my **** & the ripped ISO also played fine via that on an external hard drive.

Normally, I'd forget about it & simply go get another drive. After looking at the something to do with XBC (can't remember), it showed a list of all the drives along with what they could do with a 1, 2, n, y etc next to each one. From that the Hitachi 78 & 79 looked like the best bet for use as a ripping drive with a X360USBPRO V2. So don't want to go purchase another Hitachi only to get the same result with my original discs.
