Flashing a hitachi 79

NOTE: YOU CAN USE THE XECUTER X360USB INSTEAD OF A SATA CARD ON THE 46,47,58 & 59 Hitachi.

YOU CANNOT USE USB ON THE 78 and 79 Hitachi - YOU HAVE TO USE A SATA CARD !

Connecting your drive:

- Connect your drive to your pc using a sata cable.
- Power your drive on using your CK3 or xbox.
- Open jungleflasher
- Select the hitachi tab and insert your 79 unlock cd.
- Wait for windows to open media player (or default media player) and close it.
- Select your drives sata port
- Now click 79 unlock (a brief description will show command sent)
- Now click Mode b on jungleflasher (follow prompts)

Your ready to dump and flash Over to the dumping part:

NOTE: Turn off any antivirus programs etc and any open windows or you could brick your drive!

- You see your drive has been auto selected 79.
- Click dump drive and save the file as HITOFW.BIN
Save a 2nd copy of this firmware to another drive or cd rom.
- Now click on flash ixtreme and it should report all stable so go ahead and click OK!

Thats it!
Wasnt that easy?

If your drive has been flashed before you will need to click "restore" before you flash the new ixtreme.

Re: Flashing all hitachi's 46, 47, 58, 59, 78, And 79

It is the same procedure for all other hitachi's the only one that's different is the 79 as this requires the 79 unlock cd.

So follow the guide for the hitachi 78 and you cant go wrong!
I will add some images later to make it easier to follow.

If you try to flash a hitachi that has been flashed with ixtreme you get two options:
1 - A brick
2 - An error
So make sure you return the drive to stock before you reflash it.

If you are unsure if you have stock firmware.
After you dump the drive click back to the firmware tool 32 tab, and under your firmware it will state firmware revision e.g. stock or ixtreme.

Yeh my board has like 4 sata ports, so I connected it to one of them.

Do I need to enable sata or anything on my board?

I have the xbox turned on from the mains as you normally would.

I have the xbox turned on from the mains as you normally would.
Then it must be a sata issue!

If you have another pc you could try it on then try that first.
Otherwise grab yourself a via6421a card.

Re: Flashing all hitachi's 46, 47, 58, 59, 78, And 79

I have a messed up hitachi 46 and want to flash its key to a perfectly working hitachi 47. Can someone give me a guidline about doing it.

Im not new to flashing, ive been doing it for a while now. Just never spoofed a drive as another before. I've searched around and can only see guides on flashin hiatchi to other drives(samsung, benQ). Is the same method used for what im looking to do?

Re: Flashing all hitachi's 46, 47, 58, 59, 78, And 79

Have you got the key.bin from the original? or the hitofw.bin.

If you only have hitofw.bin.

- open jungle flasher
- open your hitofw.bin as source and click save key
- save this key.bin to a folder.
- connect your new hitachi and click flash key sector it will dump the drive info and ask for the key.bin locate the saved key.bin and click flash.

Thats your key flashed.

Re: Flashing all hitachi's 46, 47, 58, 59, 78, And 79

Damn i wish id waited for you to write back. Impatiance can get the better of me. I have made a mess following another tutorial i think. I currently have they key from the old on the new hitachi. My 360 is showing a single red light in the lower right quarter so i must have gone wrong somewhere, Id like to go back to the begining and try again form scratch. I have my old and new drives original firmware. Can i flash them both back to the begining and try again?

Re: Flashing all hitachi's 46, 47, 58, 59, 78, And 79

Hey

Ive bought a SATA card and think ive installed it correctly.

I can now detect the xbox hitachi drive.

However when I try the 79 unlock I get "Ram Execute command failed". When I run mode B, it does go into mode B, however, jungleflasher then freezes OR it says 'no hitachi drives found'.
