I managed to get the drive detected, by not using the blaster at all and just connecting it to my via card and xbox power supply...

Now though, I get it to modeB and go to dump FW, it sometimes gets part of the way through, then freezes and says ram upload failed - execute failed or something similar.

I then try to detect the drive again and it has disappeared...I have to restart the xbox a few times before it will detect again, then repeat process.

Tried classic method, same situation, drive not detected.

I then tried using my onboard SATA, detects the drive but says "drive revision uncertain" even though it detected the fw rev. fine, no surprises there since its an AMD 790FX.

I did manage to get the drive key when it was detected, but without dumping the firmware, will i be unable to flash the drive? I mean, i've got the key so i COULD spoof it to another drive if i really wanted to but I don't have a spare lying around.

I do have an nvidia nforce setup downstairs, would you recommend I try with this PC next?

I've got the jf logs saved as well, but they're on my PC and I'm on laptop at the moment, will edit post with logs shortly.

I'm desperate to succeed with this drive!, somebody help! :p

Come on guys, someone has to be able to help me...I'm really wanting to get this drive done

When the drive is in ModeB the tray keeps opening itself after a few seconds of being shut...the drive's definately in ModeB but won't let me dump using portIO, it freezes up and says ram poke failed or ram upload - upload failed, occasionally i also get ram upload - execute failed.

I've now given up using the blaster to do it, as with it all connected up I can't get the drive to detect at all...

I've got it just connected to xbox power supply and my via card (drivers aren't installed, so don't even ask!)

I've tried it on my 790FX and an NForce 590 on my other PC for the internal SATA with no joy...

Do you recommend that I try installing XP and using the 530c drivers using winAPI since they don't work with W7? (Mind i've never successfully found a drive in winapi)

Personally I always do Hitachi drives over winAPI. It's a pain with the drivers but it gets the job done.

Gah! it still didn't work in winAPI using XP with 530c drivers (and without in portio), it gets detected in the left hand panel, but i can't get windows to recognize it.

I think it may be the same thing preventing me from dumping the fw using portio - it gets detected but as soon as I do anything with it, it seems to lose connection to the PC and then I get "Drive not recognized" when i search on the port its attached to afterward, to get it detected again I have to restart the xbox and its detected straight away - temporarily again of course.

I've absolutely hammered google looking for something on this to see if someone else had the problem but I've had no results!

Could it be caused by a dirty power supply coming from the xbox since its directly powered by it!? It's times like these I wish I bought the CK3 Pro instead of the Blaster :D

i have ck3 pro but with the last hitachi i did i had the same problems... you have to use the 360, a kit wont work...

power the 360 then the pc, once your at the XP desktop restart the 360. now open jungle flasher and goto hitachi tab.. click mode b and wait if windows doesnt reconize it automatically unhook the sata cable and turn pc off. hook sata back up and turn pc on.
continue with 79 unlock blah blah

ive done a liteon and hitachi 79 tonight no problem, so i think the hardware is working ok, ive managed to extract the key only by using the classic tab, but nothing i do lets me flash either stock back (even though it says it is stock) or updateing to lt+1.1
i just get error after error
any ideas?

well, ensure that it's in mode-b by pressing the eject button twice to eject
on jungleflasher, at hitachi tab also ensure that 59 drive revision is selected
if you have dumped the drive, on ram upload select restore firmware and after that you can flash it by selecting flash lt-plus...

Now today i flashed a benq (no problems) and got a hitachi 47, again i just cant do it, i can get the key via the classic method, but nothing works on flashing, so so infuriating.
there must be some drivers for this card that stops win7 64 bit from crashing (as i assume im going to have to do this with the card enabled in windows with drivers loaded)

Thanks i used those drivers and found that windows still blue screened, out of desparation i connected the drive to the sata port on the backplate of the card and it didnt crash!! :D
i managed to dump the key again and then write lt+1.1
it said i had errors, tried it a few times and think all is now ok.
thank you for your help
