using via 6421 (drivers correctly removed) using portio - i have never installed any portio driver and my jungleflasher folder does not have the portio32.exe, i'm wondering if this is the problem? however in the log it seems to suggest the portio drivers are installed)

heres the log:

Did you get a pop-up when you loaded JungleFlasher after removing the drivers?

It should have told you something about Hitachi drives NOT being seen under port properties (obviously, because you removed the drivers).

You need to send Mode B from here and then use classic mode (the default choice) to dump your drive.

no its stock, it took me ages to get jf to display thedrive details in the port properties, it was almost as if it was luck as i have no idea what i did to get them displayed as the other 99% of the time its as if the jf cant detect the drive at all.

You need to select your drive from the drop-down box on the right, it will not show up under port properties when using a VIA card with drivers removed.

Make sure the correct VIA port is selected, click "Send Mode-B" and follow the instructions.

On a side note, on-board SATA chipsets have always worked better for me with Hitachi drives so use an onboard SATA port and WinAPI if you can :).

even when the drive details arent there the drive goes into mode b according to the log, im doing this using the mode b command, opening drive and turning power off then on again.

Hitachi Drives are annoying. The easiest way I have found to get windows to recognize the drive is to do the following:
- Attach the drive to your PC (on-board SATA) and be sure it is properly powered.
- Eject the drive tray.
-With the drive tray still ejected, pull the power from the back of the drive.
- Re-insert the power cable with the tray still ejected (the drive will try to close, do not let it)
- Go to your Control Panel in Windows and scan for hardware changes. The drive should now be found.
- Finally, open JF and the dive should be in the dropdown.

**One final note: When using your on-board SATA ports, try a few different ones. Jungle Flasher will only be able to see a drive that I connect to ports 1-2. If I use 3-6, the drive will not show.

Hope this helps!

ok guys, thanks for all the input, i have finally done it, this is what i did, undertand it if ya can as logic has gone out the window.

I used pci via 6421 to put the hitachi 47 into mobe b, then pulled out the sata from drive then inserted sata from onboard sata, drive was then recognized in right hand drop menu, and then flashed successfully with ltplus-47-2.0.

one last question, my previously backed up games don't read, is that beccause i now have to re-backup my games using the 0800/max f/w, with ihas drive in order for ltplus-47-2.0 f/w to recognize them?? . Not started researching this yet but just wondering if i'm heading in the right direction.

That is an odd issue.

The only games that would need to be re-burned are AP2.5 enabled games that you plan on running on a system with LT 3.0 (since you have a Hitachi 47, this is not an issue).

All of your old backups should work fine. Do originals work? What type of media are you using? What Drive were you using to play these now non-working backups before?

very possible that you burned the laser up in the drive while trying to flash it,try a new laser.or a used laser from a working hitachi drive.a samsung laser will also work.

hi cab, i am using cheap media called Aone plus, they worked perfect on my samsung ts-h 943 with 2.01 f/w. But my hitachi 47 with ltplus-47-2.0 will not read any of my backups but my originals do read.

---------- Post added at 09:41 ---------- Previous post was at 09:40 ----------

i dont think the laser is burnt out as it does read originals.

i would think this is def a bad media/bad laser issue.i have seen this 1 million times,a box reads originals fine, but not backups, and its usually cause the lasers too weak to pick up the 100 times crappier discs (even verbs) compared to the originals, put a new laser in it,backups will work.also try better media, hitachis are picky, and also i do not think you can truncate at all on hitachis.think you stated using a ihas burner anyway.

thanks for the advise, rather than pi$$ing about with this hitachi 47, should i just flash the hitachi key to my sammy and use that? is that plausable? my xbox is live but if i use it with the sammy for purely offline play will that work or will it be somehow logged for when i convert back and insert the ethernet cable?
