HI all

Having trouble getting ModeB and am almost out of ideas. I have

Hitachi 47dj
ASUS P5VD2-VM mobo (onboard Via VT8237 sata controller)
Slax boot disk

I have checked RAID in bios and although cant disable, I think its set OK
I have tried starting the 360 at same time, after SLAX logo, after end of first line of loading and everything in between to no avail.
if I boot into windows anyway (not in ModeB) my drive comes up as "NM4002L WCE140F SCSI CDRom Device", not "
HItachi-LG GDR-3120L" or whatever.
Im not keen on trying resistor trick just jet as just bought my first 360 (havent even used it yet!) and to brick it would make me sick.

When loading SLAX I havent seen the "spinning up disk" thing which im concerned about
Latest drivers and Bios
tried both internal Sata connection
tried Slax 2.1 and LiveCD

Anything i've missed?

Cheers

try this

first make sure the xbox 360 Hitachi 47DJ drive is conected via sata to the internal sata connecter of your card.

also make sure you have the latest slax 2.1 CD , made with nero.

the xbox 360 have the video and power cable connected to it

the bios on the PC is to boot from CDrom where the slax 2.1 will be.

1st - turn on PC with the slax 2.1 cd inside of it

2nd. when the pc boots from the slax cd, and the slax is runing almost at the end of the second bootline

TURN on the xbox360

the slax cd should start runing

when it says spining the disk

eject the tray on the xbox360

then let the slax 2.1 cd boot run is course

after wards restart the pc

when the windows XP is booting logo appears eject the xbox360 tray a few times 3 is enought

then the Hitachi 47dj should appear on the windows xp

My computer

you can tell the Hitachi is in mode B because it takes two presses on the eject bottom for the tray to eject

then after wards I think you know how to flash the Hitachi 47dj

if not let me know

Peace

Cheers Mr Niceguy tried that - the only thing different that I hadnt tried was starting the box from the second line but still no go. I did notice in the Slax lines that it found no driver for the southbridge (VIA VT8237A), not sure if thats the problem....

I think I will try the wire trick - not keen on it but out of ideas.

Thanks again
